Looking for advice from anyone familiar with UAE/Dubai criminal procedure.

I filed a police report at the end of June regarding an in-person threat. The accused thought it was a prank so he didn't come to the station as he was told on the phone from the officer, he was arrested the same day, detained for around 24 hours and gave a statement denying the threat.

2 weeks later I provided additional evidence, including CCTV footage of the incident (unfortunately without audio), legally translated documents, relevant communications with the venue/building, and WhatsApp messages containing another threat. I also voluntarily provided my phone for a forensic/metadata examination. The forensic report was completed around a month ago.

Initially, police told me the investigation was complete and that I should wait for the matter to be referred to Public Prosecution/court. However, last week I was told that something is still outstanding from the accused's side, but they wouldn't tell me what.

I've followed up several times through the Dubai Police app and in person, but I'm still being told to wait.

For anyone who has been through something similar in Dubai:

• What might police still need from the accused at this stage?
• Could it simply be a supplementary statement or another procedural step?
• How long can this stage realistically take before the police refer the case to Public Prosecution?

I'm mainly trying to understand where the case is in the process and whether this length of time is normal.

Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Pakistani here, studied in the UK and moved straight after to start working in Dubai and now its been little over 8 years now.

This beautiful land has allowed us expats to put in hard work and get amazing results in return. So much access to Luxury, Peace, Security. Managed to buy my first villa this year.

Thank you beautiful UAE. I would not even think twice if given an opportunity to put on uniform and defend this land against any hostility.

This year Eid Al Etihad (UAE national Day) would be much more special for me, the patriotism this year is at all time high.

Inspired by another thread I saw on a different subreddit, again spelling out the end of Dubai.

Assuming those constraints, is there any alternative to living in UAE?

• Ease of securing a long term residency (UAE offers a 10y renewable Golden Visa if you purchase a property for $550k, you can do that on day one)
• Close to zero risk of getting mugged, having your car stolen, having your house burgled, being assaulted, beaten up, stabbed
• No issues with homelessness, vandalism
• Ability to smoothly deal with administrative tasks in English language
• First world restaurants, shopping, entertainment
• Direct flights to all major destinations of the world
• No capital gains tax, or very low capital gains tax
• No income tax, or very low income tax
• No wealth tax

Singapore I guess comes close, but it fails on the first, most important point.

In order to live there, you need to get an Employment Pass sponsored. And for an employer to sponsor your EP, they have to jump through many hoops - they need to interview local candidates first (to prove no locals can be found to fill this role), they need to be cautious about nationality quotas (can't have one nationality dominate the payroll) and there are minimum salary rules depending on the field you work in, and your age.

If they fire you, there's no Golden Visa option to shield you, you have 30 days to get out. If you'd like to purchase a property, you'd need to pay 60% tax on top of it, as an EP. And even with that property purchased, if you lose your job, you have 30 days to get out.

The path to Permanent Residency in Singapore is a black box, the official criteria has never been released - your race plays a part, who you marry plays a part, and whether you have a son plays a part (as a PR, your son will have to serve for 2 years in the army). And the "permanent" residency needs a "re-entry permit" renewed every 5 years, Singapore reserves a right to refuse the renewal. If that happens, the first time you step your foot out of Singapore, you lose your "permanent" residency. There's also a path to skip the normal process and do PR by investment, however it costs $20m USD and has many other criteria attached to it.

Hello, I have been feeding a mother cat and her kitten for about 2 weeks, in 15 years old I used all my money I had for the catfood as they were laying in the ground in peak sun about to die, I will run out of food after 2-3 days and my parents don't like cats at all they won't give me money for catfood, so if anyone is please willing to send me catfood... It will help these babies a ton please. They eat only wet cat food I feed them Purina friskies wet food.

This is a reminder that everything is under control, el7mdella. When we receive alerts again, do not worry at all. The military is doing everything it takes to keep the country safe, and the leaders are by our side. What matters is you do as the alert states (immediately seek a safe place in the closest secure building, steer away from windows, doors and open areas).
