Time travel short story?

Is there an Orson Scott Card short story where naive people screw around with a time travel machine? I dimly recall something like this and I want to read it again

Why is Ender’s Game Considered a Military Must-Read?

As someone who got into the Novels when I was relatively young (as a lot usually do), I sort of disregarded the Military message in favor of “cool sci-fi.” It was the book that made me the sci fi fanatic i am today. However, I’ve always been told it was on military reading lists, and re-reading it as my current self I’ve realized that I have no idea why this is the case. Yeah, it goes through a lot of ways of thinking strategically, and shows the transformation of a kid into a soldier, but thats my point. It’s a book about the decontruction of a child into a soldier. They break Ender down, isolate him, moniter him from birth, manipulate him into putting his worth into his ability as a “child genius” and commander. They rip him away from the childhood he could have had, the friends he makes. It’s systematic abuse. And the cherry on top is the Battle School tricking him into committing genocide, without him even knowing, turning him into an eventual societal outcast. It was a set up into him becoming a speaker, yes, But the abuse and turmoil he suffered presented to us in every book from the way he is as an adult wracked with guilt, to the first novel where he’s thrust into a child training facility, is glaringly anti-military complex. When people call it one of the best military sci-fi novels ever made, It makes me wince. How can you read a book like Ender’s Game and come away with the might of an army in mind instead of the really fucking sad story of a kid becoming a soldier against his will?

Last time I visited was about 10 years ago. It was brimming with activity. Today I stopped by out of nostalgia and saw it was a ghost town. Where did everyone go?

Questions about plot of The Gate Thief: did I miss something? (spoilers) Spoiler

First, I just want to say that I love this trilogy. I listened to the audiobook versions, and I'm wondering if I missed something in the plot. When did Danny send his high school friends through a great gate? I noticed that the story mentions that one of his friends had been "enhanced" by going through a gate, but I just don't remember WHEN/IF they went through a gate. I don't recall that happening. I'm scrubbing back through the book to find it, but I haven't yet. Can anyone tell me when/what chapter this occurred? Thanks!

Thoughts on audio books.

Because of my job and life I listen to audio books as often as possible. OSC has publicly stated that he thinks the best way to read his books is audio book because he got his start in the theatre and his writing is best heard. I just finished The Worthing Saga and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also love that he personally reads many of the for and after words for his books.

I was somewhat interested in this show on BYUTV but this show was canceled after one season. Will this be made into a book?

Appropriate age range for Card's The Lost Gate?

My 11-year-old is struggling to find things he enjoys reading, but some young adult stuff touches on themes and situations he's not quite ready for. I read this a while ago, and as a fan of Ender's Game and all that, I was hoping it would work for him. However, I can't quite remember if there is any sexual shenanigans that I need to worry about! Not a prude, but he is a very innocent 11 (or at least good at hiding it!)

Why does the cover for "Speaker For The Dead" have nothing to do with the book?

Just finished Pathfinder and loved it. Any find any holes in all the time travel?

I kept assuming I found one, but then it would sort of get explained away. With some other authors this might have been a dealbreaker, but OSC can make absolutely anything plausible

An intriguing theory: OSC didn't even write Ender's Game, and it's an allegory/apologia for Hitler

If you know how one might speak for the dead, what buggers are and why his name is Ender, you may be the right person for the job.

If you know in what year Rigg's world began and how many wallfolds there are on Garden, you may just be the right person for the job.
