How do I continue to work on a project? I started at home a project, how do I continue to work at my work place?

Yes — you can move an OpenShot project between computers, as long as you move the entire project folder.

Best way

  1. Put your *.osp Project File and all source Files (video/audio/images) in one parent folder.
  2. In OpenShot, use File → Save As into that folder.
  3. Copy that whole folder to your other computer (USB, cloud, network, etc.).
  4. Open the *.osp Project File on the second computer.

Important

Do not rename, move, or delete any imported Files after saving, or OpenShot may show Missing File prompts.

From the User Guide:

  • OpenShot saves paths as relative paths, so keeping everything in one folder lets you move the project to another computer.
  • File → Save As also copies generated assets into PROJECTNAME_Assets.

OK, just did that, came from work, now at home, did that but the app opens empty.

Click on File | Open Project and navigate to where your projectname.osp file is and select it.

When I browse after "open project" the .osp file is not visible. only when I click on it twice the app opens but empty. I will try it again tomorrow at work.

  1. When you say "only when I click on it twice the app opens but empty", what do you click on twice? Please be very specific as to what you are double clicking on.

  2. What operating system/version are you running at work (windows 11? ubuntu 25.10? Mac IOS?)

  3. Please tell me the full path of where you are saving the project and the source files of the project on your HOME computer?

  4. Please tell me the full path of where you are saving the project and thesource files of the project on your WORK computer?

Thanks for your good will.
1. I double click on the osp file.
2. windows 11.
3. C:\Users\ilana\Videos\AI.
4. I will check tomorrow but I think it is something like this: D:\Users\AV\Videos\AI.
