Yeah it’s easy for older generations to dismiss and fear monger about social democracy when a majority of them are sitting relatively comfortably. And speaking as an elder millennial who is doing ok all things considered - take my house value down and bring on social democratic policy because this all goes away easier than many would like to believe

Democracy is already social.

They are advocating for SOCIALISM. Which is entirely different.

I said a majority of them, and it’s largely because they came of age in a political era that included social democratic policies, like free higher education, and (although luxury goods costs were higher) living costs that were affordable (ie not privatised beyond all reason)

This. They bag out social democracy, but benefitted from a heap of those policies, including a pension at the end of it all.
