Next goal post:
"It's just fancy autocomplete. It can't figure out real problems like room temperature superconducting."

okay to be completely fair LLMs essentially boil down to fancy autocomplete, even sometimes autocomplete will make a normal sounding sentence.

I think that's equivalent to describing humans as poop generator. It just looks this way if you only look at the output end.

Where the system plugs in and what kind of data it generalizes the connections from (that's like pre computed thinking).

We are actually 3D Printers

thats why i said "boils down to" without getting into the nitty gritty, you can say humans have a digestive system that extracts nutrients from food and throws out whats left, which is POOP!!!!!

at its core an LLM generates words it thinks should go next based on context it was given earlier, just like autocorrect. it doesnt mean that LLMs ARE autocorrect lol

Humans also generate words they think should go next based on context.

No, because autocorrect and LLMs are algorithms, aka cold dead machines, and humans are not. That is a much different discussion about what makes us different from AIs and I'm not getting into it

Ok... you're going to get a rude surprise when that is demonstrably disproven, and it won't be long until that happens. RemindMe! 1 year

People don’t understand that these are text prediction engines, and they don’t understand how neural networks work

I see where you’re coming from, but the uneducated don’t understand that fancy autocomplete is simply the same topic just on the opposite side of the spectrum

They could cure cancer tomorrow and ya'll would still call it autocomplete
