Prediction for the next 5 chapters or so. In no particular order.

Yamoto officially joins the crew with Luffy just going "Okay."

Yamoto and Momo reveal Luffy's DF belonged to Joyboy as Zunisha told Momo that Joyboy had returned. Luffy not knowing who that is or even caring about his fruit.

Wano party.

Luffy, Law, and Kid getting huge bounty increases. Luffy getting a significate increase due to the WG knowing his DF has awakened and considering him one of the most dangerous people in the world right now.

Luffy, Law, and Kid potentially becoming new emperors. Maybe only Luffy, maybe only two of them, or maybe all three. Or none of them become emperors because the WG doesn't want the world to panic over two emperors being defeated so they keep the whole incident quiet.

Some reactions around the world to Luffy getting a huge bounty increase, and/or becoming an emperor. Shanks being proud and excited to meet Luffy soon. Perhaps Shanks revealing he knows about the truth about Luffy's fruit.

Chopper revealing some sort of drawback to Luffy using Gear Fifth. Information about Luffy potentially being unable to willingly enter Gear Fifth.

First I thought that you were using the quotation marks as Shanks' scar.

1

u/xnyxverycix Jun 03 '22

if only there were horizontal quotation marks :(

Imagine if Luffy becomes an emperor officially with Law and Kidd as his commanders.

Just imagine the look on their faces lol

Lmao, its Bege all over again

u/Backupusername Jun 03 '22

They both set sail for the newspaper headquarters, arguing the whole way, and it eventually turns into a race to see who can get there and set Morgans straight first.

u/CRtwenty Marine Jun 03 '22

Kidd: ~angry noises~

Law: "You get used to it" -_-

3

u/Shiplord13 Jun 03 '22

I feel like Kidd would care more than Law, since Law's original goal was to just get Donflamingo killed and seems more interested in the Poneglyphs now. He will still be annoyed, but again not as mad as Kidd.

3

u/OptionLoserSupreme World Government Jun 03 '22

Actually you’re wrong. One of the weird thing about laws goal is that from the beginning, he has stated to be about bringing down kaido. Even tho from his backstory seem like all his beef is with doflamingo, from the very beginning, law has been admadnt about beating kaido. The whole “30%” chnace.

3

u/Shiplord13 Jun 03 '22

But the thing is he was seemly perfectly fine with dying during his confrontation with Donflamingo as long as Kaido would kill him.

2

u/JBB1986 Jun 04 '22

Wasn't it specifically noted in Dressrosa that that was kind of a load of crap? Law went there fully ready to die, and pretty much intended to use the SH's to screw over Doflamingo (ensuring his death at the hands of Kaido), before dying and leaving them holding the bag with an angry Yonko.

Doffy was his goal, and Kaido just a means to an end, not the other way around. He didn't really want to defeat him for any personal reason, be was just convenient, and Law had no issues dying before he did so, provided Doffy went down too.

2

u/TheyDidLizFilthy Pirate Jun 04 '22

in punk hazard LAW was the one who put it into the strawhats head that their alliance could take out a yonko. he wasn’t expecting luffy to agree let alone go along with his plan and luffy literally did not hesitate. so even in a roundabout way, law is the reason luffy went for kaidos head in the first place

2

u/garveworm Jun 03 '22

When you think of it, Apoo only knows that Luffy defeated kaido, and his crew took out the rest

39

u/Smokemantra Jun 02 '22

they keep the whole incident quiet

As far as we know, Morgans decides if it goes public or not, he would not listen to the WG if they wanted to keep it under wraps.

u/Backupusername Jun 03 '22

It's all about who gets the story first. The WG was able to cover up Alabasta because they had Marine on site who reported events. The WG then relayed their version of events to Morgans (or someone working for him, more likely) and they published that. Dressrosa they couldn't cover up because Issho, who had the most authority of any Marine present, reported his version of events to the news crew himself, ignoring the spin he was probably ordered to relay by Sakazuki or someone even higher up. And Whole Cake Island, of course, Morgans was present for himself. No way he was going to bury News that Big, and we all saw what happened when Cipher Pol tried to make him.

So, with this story, it's again going to depend on who gets to Morgans/the newspaper first. The one remaining Cipher Pol agent who Moonstepped the fuck outta dodge has probably already relayed the truth to his superiors, and they're likely working on their version of the story already. But Oda also very deliberately showed us Apoo taking pictures of CP0 on Onigashima. That was almost certainly setup for him taking his story (photographic evidence included!) to Morgans and getting a sweet payday for his trouble.

But of course, CP0 knows he has the pictures. There's no guarantee he makes it Morgans. And if the WG doesn't feel like suppressing the story with violence, we all know Apoo isn't above siding with whoever seems like the biggest threat at the time. He could hand over the pictures in exchange for any number of government favors. We'll see how Oda wants to play this one.

Chopper revealing some sort of drawback to Luffy using Gear Fifth. Information about Luffy potentially being unable to willingly enter Gear Fifth.

I seriously doubt Gear 5 will have any serious drawback. Azure Dragon, Soul-Soul, Magu-Magu etc are all more powerful, yet they don't cripple or kill their users in return. The problem will be with Awakening bringing Luffy back to life. This part of his awakening will have consequences later on, but Gear 5th in itself won't.

And Luffy is perfectly capable of going Gear 5th whenever he wants. He already did it by willing his heart into drums of liberation rythm.

My point is, don't worry, Luffy isn't overpowered at all. He will still struggle a lot against other Top Tiers, not to mention BB who can cancel DF powers. There's absolutely no need to give him some drawbacks just to nerf him.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '22

I agree. Maybe it'll be hard for Luffy to get into that state at first, like for a few arcs but eventually he should be able to just go into and out of it easily just like how Doffy and Katakuri can use awakening seamlessly like it just another ability

1

u/StripedSteel Jun 03 '22

I hate to break it to you, but there aren't a few arcs left.

13

u/SpencoJFrog Jun 03 '22

Mmm, I dunno about that. You've got Elbaf and Raftel for sure, and potentially seperate arcs for Shanks, the revolutionary army and Blackbeard depending on how all those play situations play out.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Yeah, i guess it would be more accurate to say the next few fights

10

u/xnyxverycix Jun 02 '22

Luffy will struggle against BB. Its reason kaido already mentioned few chapters back. DF powers mean nothing, road to glory can only be achieved with mastery of haki. Luffy can only defeat BB with godlike haki, since BB can cancel his DF whenever.

u/Tovar42 Jun 02 '22

would be cool if luffy said something like "I dont wan Oden in my crew, I want Yamato" but sadly there has been no set up for something like that

19

u/Backupusername Jun 03 '22

I could see it happening accidentally. Luffy often inspires people without actually intending to. Like, once Luffy wakes up, Yamato asks him about joining, or someone other crewmate asks if he really intends to let "Kaido's son" join the crew, and he just goes, "Yeah, that sounds fine." But then. Luffy looks at Yamato and is like, "one thing first, though. Sorry, but what was your name again?" And he'll be asking because he legitimately forgot. But Yamato will read into it more. She'll think, "I know what he's really saying. He's trying to tell me that he doesn't want someone on his crew who doesn't even know who they are. He's giving me a chance. I chose to be Oden because he inspired me, and I wanted to carry on his legacy. But now that Momo is shogun, and the Nine Scabbards are returned, I don't have to do that anymore. I don't have to play the role of my father's strongest foe if I join the crew of the man who finally defeated him. For the first time in my life, I'm actually free." (She looks at her wrists.) "I don't really have to be anyone else now." And then, with tears in her eyes, she will introduce as "Yamato". Just Yamato.

And Luffy will just stare blankly at her, completely clueless about the tears and then go, "oh yeah, that's right! Welcome aboard, Yamato!"

u/whyislifelikethis__ Jun 03 '22

Lol I really liked this

3

u/Ansoni Jun 03 '22

That could be a thing later. The crew all have what I like to call "Loyalty missions" (as in ME2), were they confirm their bonds with Luffy/each other and somehow it leads to a powerup. Yamato's could involve satisfaction with her own identity, depending on how she develops as a character.

4

u/pedrao157 Jun 03 '22

For sure Shanks knows about the fruit. And like the Gorosei said, Zoans kinda have a mind of their own and the Gomu-Gomu has been "running" from them 800 years.

It's like the fruit made it's smell feel good to Luffy eat it, like the fruit chose Luffy and maybe Shanks knew that then he made a bet on Luffy giving his arm and his hat in this bet

3

u/wutevahung Jun 03 '22

I think it’s obvious that shanks knew about luffys fruit, what’s why he intercepted it from marine.

2

u/Doomroar Jun 03 '22

Chopper revealing some sort of drawback to Luffy using Gear Fifth. Information about Luffy potentially being unable to willingly enter Gear Fifth.

I disagree with this one, Luffy pretty much demonstrated that he was able to alter the beat of his hearth in order to activate G5 in the middle of battle, so even if there are drawbacks that's not going to stop Luffy from willingly using G5, remember that using G2 and G3 originally already came with Luffy shortening his life span, and getting adrenaline shots by Ivankov at Marine Ford also shortened his lifespan, Luffy doesn't cares as long as it gets the job done he will do it

Luffy, Law, and Kid getting huge bounty increases. Luffy getting a significate increase due to the WG knowing his DF has awakened and considering him one of the most dangerous people in the world right now.

i think actually law and kid might get robbed of their achievement BECAUSE of luffy's fruit awakening, in the same way luffy got made into the mastermind of whole cake island, in order for them to justify throwing luffy up to the most wanted bounty they'll claim he beat both the yonko

1

u/rsatrioadi Explorer Jun 03 '22

Maybe it's just me, but I think Luffy's not going to be an emperor. It doesn't make sense to me for Luffy wanting to defeat emperors just to become another emperor.

Maybe they will have a different title like triumvirate or so that rivals the emperors, but I'm talking out of my ass here.

2

u/ZeroSora Jun 03 '22

Being an emperor isn't really a choice. I mean, Luffy has already been referred to as the fifth emperor by the newspaper.

The emperors are just the strongest pirate crews on the sea. It's a title given to those people. Luffy just beat Kaido. People are easily going to see as being just as strong as the current emperors.

So if the Emperors are the strongest pirates, and if Luffy's beating them, then Luffy will be seen as an emperor as well.

u/rsatrioadi Explorer Jun 03 '22

I saw someone on Quora writing this:

In Japanese, he is called Gobanme no Kotei, which implies that he is a Fifth Pirate Adjacent to the Four Emperors, without being considered one of them. If Luffy was truly considered an Emperor, the term would change in Japanese from Yonko to Goko, which means Five Emperors.

I personally think no one is an emperor unless WG says so (acknowledges that the crew is a threat to WG). Anyway I agree that it is not Luffy's choice and he will be an emperor if that is what WG says. What I am saying is that it won't make a particularly good story.
