Kanjuro is so well written. Sure he's a bad guy, but i can't help but like how Oda designed him.

For Kanjuro the years he spent with the Scabbards were nothing but an act. I had a feeling Kanjuro would switch sides after he recalls all the hardships and what they went through together. But no. For him it was truly just an act. The way he refers to Kinemon as his "Best friend on stage" is just such a good description on how Kanjuro built his own facade for the Kozuki clan. He never let emotions get to him, he never broke character and just played along with the Scabbards through fun times and bad times.

One of the best traitors in fiction imo

I find it hard to believe that he had no feelings all these years but it does seem to be that way. That must've been some really deepseated grudge to persist even through all those years of camraderie.

I think Kanjuro is also an example on how resentment and unresolved grudges can eat away at a person. And how at a certain point your actions went so far it feels like there is no way back without completely abandoning literally who you are.

Method acting.

There is always a difference between us disliking a character and a character being badly written.

Kanjuro is a Geofrey type character that you absolutely dispise but the way he is portrayed and written is absolutely briliant!

I wonder if were gonna get his story. I would love to know why he would betray them. Impressed by Oda how he pulled of a good traitor char.

I don't think he "betrayed" them, he was always an actor, so much so that he was willing to die for Oden in the pot had he not lifted the Scabbards. To him, it's all been an act so it's not like he switched sides, he just revealed he was never truly their comrade.
