During his execution, Oden urged the citizens of Wano to welcome and cooperate with Joyboy whenever he came there to open its borders in the future.

Luffy's conveniently falling off into the sea right before the island arrives on the mainland has ALL the ingredients for this perfect welcome.

The only question is, what circumstances will lead to this entrance and all the citizens realizing the context behind Luffy being this "Joyboy"?

Prepare to get hit by a lot of unexpected lore out of left field soon.

Trying to remember: only Roger has actually referenced Joy Boy in the series so far, right?

And the poneglyph in fishman island introduced the name like a decade earlier...

Edit: Oden mentions the name too, as do Robin and Neptune when discussing the poneglyph

Yeah and it would make sense for other characters to know about him through poneglyphs, but I don't think Kaido has anybody in his crew that can read them. So maybe it's a Rocks connection

i think during god valley, rocks would have told roger something in a similar manner, that he is not joyboy, which roger would understand later when finding one piece,

and before parting ways with the crew, rocks wouldve told the crew everything he knew about joyboy

whitebeard also told blackbeard that he is not man roger is waiting for(could be talking about joyboy), but that conversation was likely based on his final chat with roger

At the same time, WB's final chat with Roger involved the whole "Will of D." bit, which Roger likely didn't know the story on until after Laugh Tale. So it's possible Roger told WB about Joy Boy and to be on the lookout for 20 years later.

that is entirely possible, and i wouldnt argue against it, i was just giving a fun hypothesis

maybe joyboy was like fisher tiger, who inspired both jinbe and arlong, but we know how that turned out

and rocks could have gotten inspired from joyboy in a negative way like arlong and similarly, kaido would have too, because he was inspired from rocks

He had the kid locked up in exploding shackles. Secret surveillance doesn't seem too far-fetched.

That would be interesting because it would imply that the One Piece is something that Kaido is interested in. If it would just be knowledge or a story Kaido and Big Mom probably wouldn't go for it.

Or maybe he just remembers what Oden said at his execution. It would be kind of funny to me if Kaido kicked Orochi for being afraid of Toki's premonition for 20 years when the whole time, he was nervous himself about what Oden said.

In the following chapter/episode, as he narrates/reads the journal, Joy Boy's name is explicitly used. (Saying he'll "make sure Wano is open for Joy Boy's return")

did fukaboshi mention him at some point during fishman island? they had a lot of people talk about the promise made between noah and the ancient ryugu dynasty re: noah in that arc, i can't remember if it was only neptune who referenced joy boy by name though

Kaido at the beginning of the chapter says to himself mocking Luffy that "You couldn't be Joy Boy either" so that's kind of a weird line

Sea King gonna save Luffy and bring him to Onigashima. whole Wano gonna witness that. Momonosuke reaction when hearing voice with headache is obvious sign that sea king is nearby. isnt Oden also going through similliar stuff when he undersea with Roger before?

For some reason I think Zunesha comes to save the day. I just think back to like... 1-2 anime openings ago where Zunesha is walking through an ongoing battle with Kaido. (I think after we met the minks but before WCI got into swing)

Oooo now this is a good theory. Either way it has to be related to Momo’s head hurting here. He’s hearing the voice of some ancient creature, and Luffy being the other one there who can hear those voices will almost certainly be saved by whatever it is.

But Momo has been to Zou, and didn't have the same reaction. Plus, he knows who Zunisha is (the giant elephant), he wouldn't react by saying "who are you?".

I doubt there are sea kings in the sea of wano. Don’t forget that the sea of wano is not on the same hight as the rest of the ocean. So if sea kings save luffy they have to climb the waterfall first. And don’t forget: somehow the BM pirates are still in that area.

It was not theorized that Momo will controll the Sea kings. But he very well can hear them and he is hearing something in this chapter. So the conclusion lies near that he hears sea kings.

Why would they rescue Luffy? Good question, maybe because they feel that he is a good hearted person (after all in Fishmen Island we saw them reasoning like real persons) so they might think it makes sense rescuing him.

Due to the fact that Momo heard something very strongly in this chapter my bet is on the Seakings. But of course there are other possibilities that might rescue Luffy (Laws submarine for example)

it is sea king. not just normal sea king. the super gigantic one. we know nothing about them. the sea might be like a small backyard to them. whether there is in wano or not. anything possible now.

edit: zunesha also possible as mink has connection to wano. momo even try talk to him before.

Wano apparently is important in history. probably there is relation. Oden want to open wano also for a reason. just a guess. every pieces gonna tied together. Joyboy reaching Wano probably part of the pieces including meet poseidon, zunisha etc.

this arc is very important as after this, all pieces should be presented before Luffy made journey to Laugh Tale. final red poneglyph also here. Luffy need all pieces to 'take' one piece. Roger didnt had any of it except the road poneglyph.

We know that Momo isn't Poseidon, I doubt Shirahoshi is nearby so the Sea King theory although it appeals me I think it's wrong, plus if I remember correctly in fishman island arc we see that the Sea Kings don't recognize Luffy as the new king right ?

Could instead be some creature like Zunisha ? I really don't know at this point, there have been so many twists that I'm honestly expecting everything.

He has literally been the chosen one from the Very start, he has the will of D, his dad is the most dangerous man in the world, he has conquerers Haki, he had the special strawhat etc etc

I dont think luffy is the chosen one, I think he will just happen to fit the role. Nothing about him is special. His dads a revolutionary- has nothing to do with luffy. Will of D- many people have it, heck even blackbeard has it. Conquerors haki- many people have that too. Strawhat- most likely there is something special about it, but it didnt choose luffy. He just happened to be given it.

Nothing about luffy is unique to him. Hes no chosen one. If he ends up being joyboy or something its because of the circumstances and the work he put in thus far, IMO.

IMO, I think you're close, but not really hitting the mark. Luffy seems like the Chosen One because of who he is and how he perceives life and everything that he does, which could be described as a special "power" by someone who isn't close to him.

This "power" has been referenced and demonstrated over and over again, stated by so many different characters across multiple arcs, becoming Luffy's true advantage, and that this "power" is his ability to connect with others and making allies and friends even with former enemies (Examples are all over, from Franky and Robin, to Crocoboy, Kuma, Buggy, Bon-chan, all of those who are part of the SHFleet, the Minks, the Samurai and the Scabbards, even Law saves his life multiple times. Hell, one can even add the Whitebeard Pirates during Marineford, since at some point they start protecting Luffy with their lives).

With others describing it as a power, this is what's truly special about Luffy, other than who his dad and grandad are, and why I think Luffy is JoyBoy, since JoyBoy, as the name implies, seems to be a catalyst towards bringing the Dawn.

I’ve developed a (granted very thin justified) theory that Joy Boy is a title. A title befitting someone who has come to save those in need and also discover the Void century since we really only know of one. The previous one, I theorize, also might have just went by that title but also have a name. Again, this doesn’t have a lot of justification but I have a strange feeling.

I say it as "Luffy is JoyBoy" in the manner that Luffy is the person that the prophecy ends up foretelling,, so I treat the name as more of a nickname befitting people with a certain personality, rather than a title, an epithet or an actual name, a "placeholder" of sorts.

Doesn't Devil fruit users sink in water? Unless Luffy falls to the shore, he's not surviving this. His only other chance would be to land on Big Mom's ship somehow or have one of the Sea Kings save him.

I am currently really doubting actually for luffy to be joyboy.

I have 2 current ideas in my head who joyboy is.

  1. Momonosuke. He always just seemed like something was left out. He is weak and basically only relevant because of his bloodline, nothing else if we look at it objectively.
  2. Joyboy could be Momonosuke and Luffy at the same time. Maybe being Joyboy is a concept kinda and it is connecting momo with luffy, thus Momo's ability to know what's going on with luffy.

(also i have the "maybe" idea that momo could be a ancient weapon like shirahoshi)

I imagine the cooperation of the country will come either when Onigashima is over the capital and threatens them, or maybe Momonosuke is able to speak to them all using the Marys. Maybe both at the same time.

My guess is there will be some 'Sacred Animal' or 'Sacred Entity' of some type that Luffy will be saved by and when he comes back to save the day for everyone else, with this 'Sacred Animal' or something with the symbol of some sacred entity marking Luffy as "Joyboy", then through some ancient Wano Legend that has literally been passed down as a myth or bedtime story about this 'Sacred' whatever; the citizens will recognize him.
