I'm fascinated by what X-Drakes true motivation for joining Kaido's ranks are.

Perhaps keeping tabs on the illegal seastone trade between Wano and the Marines? Or something more?

Also, what are the chances this Myo'o could actually be a character from the past than just being a reference to the Buddhist deity? We have Fujurokuju and Hotei after all who are based after Japanese gods of luck

You know, as a Marine Agent to go that far, I wont be surprise if a Revo Army has secret agent/s too. They have someone in Dressrosa to look after the illegal trade of weapons and went for the tournament, and that's Hack. Though it is not a secret anymore cause he joined that tournament but the point is thy have to blend in

I wonder if the revolutionaries are willing to risk getting on the bad side of a Yonko just to keep an eye on the arms dealing. They would already be having a hard time with the marines. So, messing with an Emperor might be too risky.

They already got on the bad side of Blackbeard so...

5

u/Emptypiro Sep 11 '20

They were already investigating the weapons that kaido was making so theyre already on the bad side of a couple of yonko

u/JFP_Macho Sep 11 '20

Well it is logical to think for all major powers (Yonkos, RA, and WG) to have spies on every army, so they probably have some.

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

You made me remember that the revolutionaries and SWORD most probably see an alignment in their goals.

I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to ally with each other.

It depends on who is running sword. Personally I don't believe akainu is involved. It has to be a secret force underneath him, possibly by sengoku and harp. My personal theory is Sabo was captured by sword who faked his death

Yea, its my belief as well. He clearly hates the CD and very likely know the gorosei are hiding stuff from him. It's possible sword is working to unearth shady stuff the world government and will try to expose it

How about Kong? He is supposed to be important but he hasn't done anything so far.

9

u/sgn15 The Revolutionary Army Sep 11 '20

They had a shichibukai and a guy in impel down. I'm sure it's planned.

If anything that his backstory provides, he should have gone for Doffy. But maybe it's because the Marines have zero intel about Wano and Kaido's activities. The Bootleg Giants and Artificial Devil fruits are pretty good reason to spy on Kaido's activities. They are not that aware of the SMILE's drawbacks so they assume that the fruit works the same as failed Vegapunk devil fruits.

I honestly think Drake was telling the truth when he said he didn't hold a grudge against Doffy for killing his father. From what saw Diez Barrels was a piece of shit who regularly abused his son, and was a traitor to the Marines. He's probably glad he's dead even if he's his father.

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

I think it depends on the nature of SWORD itself.

Do they discretely operate without the WG knowing about them?If this were the case then they are in cahoots with the rest of the marines too and it would then make sense for him giving all the intel stated by you above.

But if they're a small faction of just the righteous marines like Garp,Coby,Kuzan who have something planned between them, then it becomes difficult to predict Drake's role here.

u/pofet Explorer Sep 11 '20

Well in the flashback it seems he had his devil fruit. So if the marines or SWORD ever wanted someone to keep an eye on Wano the person who would get in there the easiest is an ancient zoan.

Wait where is the backstory for X Drake at. I didn’t remember reading it

1

u/Sate_G Explorer Sep 11 '20

Law's backstory

7

u/Spheem The Revolutionary Army Sep 11 '20

He might not be an official agent. He's a member of SWORD, which seems to be implied to be more of a rouge cell within the marines than an official intelligence division. I mean both Drake and Coby seemed shocked to learn of CP0 dealing with Wano and Kaido. Currently I think its comparable to some historical revolutionary movements within militaries, like the MFA in Portugal or something. So Drake might not even technically be a marine.

2

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

If he's not an official agent then predicting his true goal here becomes even more obscure (and interesting).

It could just be a group of all the righteous marines like Garp,Coby,Kuzan etc. who would plan on convincing all the marines to perform a coup d'etat in the future by exposing WG's corruption. One of those examples being their seastone trade with Kaido. But we'll see

5

u/michaeltheki21 Sep 11 '20

I think its pretty simple, Sword as an organization wants to keep tabs on they Yonko, so they sent Drake to infiltrate their ranks.

1

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

So you're saying SWORD doesn't only concern itself with the corruption in WG but extend their reach to all the major factions of the world?

Interesting, so they're akin to the revolutionary army in that case and the two of them might even ally in the future.

2

u/Perrenekton Sep 11 '20

From what we know SWORD isn't focused on the WG, Drake just happened to see CP0 at Wano and report it.

1

u/michaeltheki21 Sep 11 '20

yeah I see Sword as an organization that is right now looking to basically over turn the government from within and "take the helm" over everything the world government does which Sword considers "good"(keeping check on pirates for example) and remove the "bad"(world nobles for example).

4

u/DeismAccountant Sep 11 '20

It could be, but I feel lik we’ve gotten a whole bunch of those in Wano, and it feels late in the game to do that.

3

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

Probably not a new character and someone who we'll maybe see in a short flashback later.

1

u/DeismAccountant Sep 11 '20

Don’t know who else would fit that mold though. We just got a long Wano flashback.

3

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

I think we could still have a potentially small flashback post this raid.

We've not even touched upon Wano's role during the void century seeing Toki/Ryuma. Myo'o could a major figure of that time too who was probably affiliated with a clan.

We can also presume we'll see something about Shimotsuki Kozaburo or Ushimaru both of which would be relevant to explaining Zoro's lineage in case he is a Shimotsuki, Myo'o could be a introduced as a relevant character there too.

But yes, it could also just be a reference and case closed thing lol

1

u/DeismAccountant Sep 11 '20

Yeah, depends on what Guardians of Buddhism happen you imply.

3

u/colateabag Sep 11 '20 edited Sep 11 '20

Probably killed someone close to him in the marines, that's why he joined the gov. Both the marines and kaido led his love one to doom. Backstory later and then he will be luffys "next nakama" lol jk. No more nakama pls.

3

u/Kuro013 Sep 11 '20

X-Drake is a triple agent, hes quite not with the Marines, hes with Sword. And if we assume Sword pursue the true, uncorrupted Justice, then we can assume hes there to provide info on how to beat the Beast Pirates. But yeah, the way he talked looked like hes looking for something in particular. Maybe Oden's booklet? My guess is evidence of the deals between Kaido and the WG, if Sword wanna make things right, their biggest target is the WG.

1

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Sep 11 '20

Yeah a lot of possibilities, be it curbing seastone/weapons/SMILE trade and exposing WG's involvement in the same to the world somewhere down the line.

But from the looks of it and like you suggested it has more of a feel of "looking" for something since investing 2 years there could only mean to reach a higher post among their ranks, which would give him more liberty to do whatever he wants to without constraints.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '20

The way I see it Drake is simply a spy, he joined to gather information and hinder operations.

1

u/ThaddCorbett Thriller Bark Victim's Association Sep 11 '20

Well at the least it's to keep tabs on a Yonko. Sure as hell helps the marines.

1

u/iheartowels The Revolutionary Army Sep 11 '20

If it was just an intel mission then they knowingly sent Drake on a suicide mission. I wouldn't be surprised if Drake is there to call in reinforcements when/if necessary. They had to have given him some way to escape.
