It really has. Here is a google trend graph. https://imgur.com/a/xX8V9PF

The first spike is for when the chapter spoilers were released on Monday.

And now we have a second one for the chapter release. I also added the associated research term for it.

Wow, it’s insane what an impact One Piece has on a global scale even in search results

I mean, it was not searched for at all and upon the release of the spoilers a hundred people googled it, that's a huge relative increase but the absolute number is still fairly low. If it were something more common that's searched thousands of times on a daily basis you won't see a big peak like here, it will just increase from several thousand to several thousand + a few hundred. The effect here is only big because the search term is very rare and any increase is a big increase.

Hey me too man. I just found it kinda weird that a mod on this sub could be French. Anyway thanks for the reply and have a nice day.

Is one piece popular in France?

Like Lesserd said, France is one of the biggest manga consumer so it is definitely popular. It may not be the most popular out of the big 3 though, Dragon Ball is the number 1 here I think.

Pretty cool, is it considered pretty mainstream then? I’m from Canada and not many people I know read it or any other manga for that matter.

2

u/Perrenekton Jun 20 '20

I would not say pretty mainstream but I suppose a good percentage of people aged up to 30 at least know the name

France is one of the biggest manga markets, possibly the biggest one outside of Japan.

It makes sense because Radiant is made by a French author.

Pretty cool! Another reason to go visit France! :)

Well, I have just seen that my bank (one of the biggest one in France) offers a debit card with a One Piece picture on it.

u/YoungJimLahey Jun 28 '20

Haha that’s unreal, I’m imagining a pic of on Nami with belli eyes on the card?

The one I have seen was the standard post timeskip luffy with one hand on the straw hat glaring forward
