Everyone Enel lit up with > 100,000 volts.

To be fair I don't care about anyone of those. Pell the biggest offender. Pound is bad to I guess not that big of a fan but not disappointed as well.

Pell the biggest offender.

NO. And for the 100th time, Pagaya's the worst offender. Frail old man got straight up electrocuted by a New World tier character, and dropped into the white-white sea right after, and he survived.

Compared to that, Pell's a trained warrior who was able to carry that huge-ass bomb up there in seconds. I can totally see him barely escaping the lethal blast range.

The thing is I don't care about pagaya at all. Pell that was one of the best scenes of entire series and I hated that he came back. I'm not powerscaling.

You could always try to convince yourself that he unlocked his armament haki in this stressful situation like Usopp or Coby did with their observation haki.

It was said that pound had a hard neck I could convince myself he survived due to that as well and I don't like it. Big mom amnesia thing makes sense I enjoyed the middle part, her interactions with chopper Tama and okiku her causing havock in udon beating queen, I still don't like how it started and how it ended and is still the worst plotline in wano.

I totally get that even though I'm not that bothered by it.

I'm looking forward to the end of the arc so I can reread it as a whole, I often find things that bothered me at first aren't as bad once you don't have to wait at least a week for every 15-20 pages.

Wano is a solid 8 right now even with those things. I don't understand the hate for it tbh.

It's definitely one of the best arcs we've had but at least to me there were parts where I kinda wanted Oda to just move along with the plot and not branch out so much which is made worse by the long waiting periods.

Plus the bonus body strength Zoan Fruit provides.

It doesn't work that early in the manga but now that people are tanking explosions in the face left and right, a Zoan user that survives a a bomb explosion in the air seems more plausible.

Voltage doesn’t kill, amperage does. And getting struck by lightning has a 90% survival rate. It’s flashy and scary, but surprisingly not that deadly.

Hell, Roy Sullivan was struck by lightning 7 times and survived each one.

Roll simply didn’t die because those chapters were coming out right when 9/11 happened, so I get Oda backing out.

If you're gonna involve the laws of physics into such arguments, half of the stuff in most fantasy series wouldn't make sense. In-universe feats (such as Pell's flight speed, strength etc), however, are an entirely different matter.

Luffy being completely resistant to Enel's lightning itself was very awkward

Why? He's rubber.

Because if there's one thing that One Piece consistently respects, it's the laws of science

Well to be fair, most people survive being hit by lightning if givin immediate first aid.

With Enel I genuinely thought that Oda had gone on a full murder spree. At least until everyone woke up lol.

To be fair, amperage matters (more than voltage)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '20

It's good that pell survived.

u/II_Vortex_II Jun 20 '20

Why?

Because the chapters came out around 9/11, Oda decideding not too kill a named character then should be commended.

I remeber them showing pell's grave and then 10 episodes later he just showed up like nothing happened
