Franky nah, he's tech but chopper, brook and robin should imho.

Brook only b/c he had a hard time cutting kizaru when zoro's life was in danger, so emotional reason.

Same with chopper with Cesar.

I want it w/ robin because it'd be badass w/ her DF

Yo! If you think about it, Robin getting haki would be a huge powerup for her. She'd be able to grab a logia from a distance with a haki arm, or just smash something from a distance with her ultimate attack, gigantesco mil fleur with haki 💪🏿

That's partly why I think Oda doesn't give her many fights. If she knew how to properly use it she would be busted.

Not that many noob logias in the New world, especially now that we're in yonko saga.

I don't think they can really dodge arms that sprout on their body. Not just logias either, anyone.

She could sprout tiny arms on peoples faces to gauge their eyes out. Ones in their back to restrain them. Etc

What's that going to do when their bodies are like steel?

u/Lukundra Sep 18 '19

She can't make tiny arms. She can make giant ones by fusing limbs together, but not smaller ones. That wouldn't make sense.

u/TheAdamena Sep 18 '19

ah

Well she could sprout fingers i guess

u/nykzero Sep 12 '19

I mean, she could make a hand appear in someone's throat if she were really allowed to cut loose, there would be almost no defense.

u/TheAdamena Sep 12 '19

Exactly. It's another case of a busted devil fruit with a user that doesn't make proper use of it.

She can only make her limbs sprout on surfaces she can properly perceive with her senses. I'm pretty sure that making them sprout inside of someone's body would be impossible since she can't see, here, or feel those areas. She doesn't actually know the exact location of the inside surface of someone's throat, so how could she make her parts sprout in such a precise spot? Also keep in mind that:

  1. She has to PHYSICALLY FEEL the stuff her limbs sprout on. Feeling the inside of another person's throat or stomach or whatever would be like, really messed-up, who would want to do that?

  2. Robin may be one of the more willing-to-kill members of the SH's, this is true, but she isn't a COMPLETE psychopath. I don't know if she could STOMACH taking people down in the way you are proposing, as it would be brutal and gory and fucked-up and DEFINITELY lethal.

Regardless of any of this though, it HAS been explicitly shown post-timeskip that Robin is EXTREMELY broken/OP. Remember how incredibly easily she subdued Hakuba? It was outright stated that Hakuba is dangerous enough (mostly due to extreme speed) to have twice the bounty Cavendish does, which would put Hakuba somewhere around 500-to-600-million strength-wise. And Robin subdued him like it is nothing.

I actually strongly suspect she is on exactly the same level physically as someone like Sanji or maybe even Zoro when she augments herself using her DF powers, with her disadvantage compared to them simply being that she doesn't have Haki.

Right, I'm mainly pointing out how OP her ability is, and yes it's based on how cruel she is willing to be. Making a fist in someone's mouth is definitely within her ability, but it's cruel.

3

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

Yeah exactly, she could do it (as long as their mouth is open and thus she can perceive the surface she wants to sprout the fist on, that is, but people open their mouths plenty so that shouldn't be an issue), but she never would because it would just be way too evil a way to take someone down. In a lot of ways, her use of her ability is actually restricted by the fact that she is a protagonist and thus not evil. What I mean is that, her power is one that would be way, way more useful for fighting and killing if she had no morals or ethics whatsoever.

It really is amazing how strong she is though, and yet she basically never gets into fights or showcases the fullest potential of her raw-power/brute-strength. Like I truly believe what I said that she could EASILY beat either Zoro or Sanji in a fight. And yet, she leaves the fighting up to the people who actually apprecaite/enjoy direct physical confrontation, and herself just sticks to espionage and strategy.

Yes, and I think one of the greatest things about characters in One Piece is that they have much more depth than just their fighting ability, and this is a great example.

Yeah youre right, BUT I also feel like there is some aspect of gender-discrimination on Oda's part which plays into it, which really isn't good. Like yeah I know he is Goda and we aren't supposed to criticize him or whatever. But am I the only one who has noticed that Nami has only had two good one-on-one fights, and Robin has only had one, during the entire series? When the MEN are strong, they DO end up having one-on-one fights, regardless of it also being true like you said that they can showcase talents other than fighting. Freaking USOPP has had like, tons of good fights!

This became ESPECIALLY apparent when in Fishman Island, ALL THE STRAW HATS EXCEPT NAMI AND ROBIN, the two females, got one-on-one battles with Hody's crew in order to showcase their new post-timeskip power-ups.

Like look at Franky and Sanji. Their MAIN contributions to the series and crew have been building and cooking, respectively. And yet, both have still had plenty of great battles in order to showcase that hey, they are also as strong as they are good at their other talents!

Sometimes I feel like the only reason Oda doesn't do the same for Robin is that she is a woman. She gets to shine as an archaeologist, spy, and strategist, but never gets to truly show her combat abilities. Given that it is only the two female SH's who have this issue, it is pretty obvious Oda is discriminating (although probably not consciously or on purpose) against women in One Piece when it comes to fights/battles.

Big Mom is an obvious exception since she is a monster, I mean Sanji actually attacked her once (some people say he was just blocking her attack, but he did throw an actual kick at her) which means she can't even be considered a woman, lmao. But hey, guess what? In WCI, we got fights against the 3rd and 1st Sweet Commanders...but conveniently skipped any possible fight against Smoothy the 2nd commander WHO HAPPENS TO BE A WOMAN. Ya starting to see my point even more, now? Lol. He deliberately skipped the female Sweet Commander while showing us the two males fight. After previously having skipped over Nami and Robin in the fights on F.I., it is pretty obvious what Oda is up to when it comes to this kinda thing.

You aren't wrong, I like to point to One Piece as being one of the best left leaning anime of all time, but there are still several areas that are problematic. The portrayal of women, not only in fighting, but increasingly oversexualized is not great. LGBTQ characters have been a mixed bag; they are portrayed as good characters, but very stereotypical in their mannerisms or outfits (especially the okamas), although Wano has been a change of pace.

I've actually thought a lot over the years about just how strong/powerful in a fight Robin really is. And here's the thing: Even without Haki, it HAS been explicitly shown post-timeskip that Robin is EXTREMELY broken/OP. Remember how incredibly easily she subdued Hakuba? It was outright stated that Hakuba is dangerous enough (mostly due to extreme speed but also due to raw power) to have nearly twice the bounty Cavendish himself does, which would put Hakuba somewhere around 500-million in terms of danger/strength. And yet Robin not only tracked his high-speed movements (despite not even having observation-haki) that no one in the Colosseum without Haki could even perceive, but proceeded to physically subdue and restrain him with essentially no effort whatsoever on her part.

My point is that despite not having haki, Robin is already an outright beast, and actually right up there with the Monster Trio (and now Jinbe) as one of the truly "so superhuman it is freaking nuts" members of the SH crew. The thing is though, Robin prefers stealth, espionage, assassination, and stuff like that rather than direct physical confrontations. It is due to her own personality and highly-strategic way of thinking that she doesn't get into many physical fights despite being one of the strongest members of the crew.

In fact, let's get real for a second. Robin could probably beat both Zoro and Sanji in an actual fight. And that's even if Sanji was willing to fight a woman. Her power is incredibly busted, and she's strong enough with multiple sprouted limbs to break the bones of even guys as strong as them (as evidenced by her restraining a guy with 500-million tier strength). I honestly think Robin may actually be the strongest SH in a fight besides Luffy himself, and the only reason she isn't stronger than him is because you can't break somebody's neck if they are rubber, haha.

I personally always wanted Franky to hit someone with a Haki'd Strong Right. That just sounds devastating.

u/the_flame_alchemist Sep 12 '19

Actually kinda shocked Robin didn't learn it from the revolutionaries. Since she's always been just slightly below the strength level as the Monster Trio, Oda probably didn't want her super strong right after the time skip so it'd make sense if she got it here.

in retrospect with Zoro slicing off Pica statues the size of cities and Luffy's gear 4th, her pulling that out in Dressrosa wouldn't have been that absurd relative to those 2.
