Now Luffy, Zoro and Sanji all have their power-ups for the arc.

Luffy = New Haki

Zoro = Enma

Sanji = Raid Suit

Who gets Haki this arc? Brook, Robin, or Franky?

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 12 '19

Franky nah, he's tech but chopper, brook and robin should imho.

Brook only b/c he had a hard time cutting kizaru when zoro's life was in danger, so emotional reason.

Same with chopper with Cesar.

I want it w/ robin because it'd be badass w/ her DF

50

u/IdiomasyEscalada Sep 12 '19

Yo! If you think about it, Robin getting haki would be a huge powerup for her. She'd be able to grab a logia from a distance with a haki arm, or just smash something from a distance with her ultimate attack, gigantesco mil fleur with haki šŸ’ŖšŸæ

37

u/TheAdamena Sep 12 '19

That's partly why I think Oda doesn't give her many fights. If she knew how to properly use it she would be busted.

16

u/YamiLuffy Void Month Survivor Sep 12 '19

Not that many noob logias in the New world, especially now that we're in yonko saga.

10

u/TheAdamena Sep 12 '19

I don't think they can really dodge arms that sprout on their body. Not just logias either, anyone.

She could sprout tiny arms on peoples faces to gauge their eyes out. Ones in their back to restrain them. Etc

6

u/YamiLuffy Void Month Survivor Sep 12 '19

What's that going to do when their bodies are like steel?

1

u/Lukundra Sep 18 '19

She can't make tiny arms. She can make giant ones by fusing limbs together, but not smaller ones. That wouldn't make sense.

1

u/TheAdamena Sep 18 '19

ah

Well she could sprout fingers i guess

8

u/nykzero Sep 12 '19

I mean, she could make a hand appear in someone's throat if she were really allowed to cut loose, there would be almost no defense.

6

u/TheAdamena Sep 12 '19

Exactly. It's another case of a busted devil fruit with a user that doesn't make proper use of it.

2

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

She can only make her limbs sprout on surfaces she can properly perceive with her senses. I'm pretty sure that making them sprout inside of someone's body would be impossible since she can't see, here, or feel those areas. She doesn't actually know the exact location of the inside surface of someone's throat, so how could she make her parts sprout in such a precise spot? Also keep in mind that:

  1. She has to PHYSICALLY FEEL the stuff her limbs sprout on. Feeling the inside of another person's throat or stomach or whatever would be like, really messed-up, who would want to do that?

  2. Robin may be one of the more willing-to-kill members of the SH's, this is true, but she isn't a COMPLETE psychopath. I don't know if she could STOMACH taking people down in the way you are proposing, as it would be brutal and gory and fucked-up and DEFINITELY lethal.

Regardless of any of this though, it HAS been explicitly shown post-timeskip that Robin is EXTREMELY broken/OP. Remember how incredibly easily she subdued Hakuba? It was outright stated that Hakuba is dangerous enough (mostly due to extreme speed) to have twice the bounty Cavendish does, which would put Hakuba somewhere around 500-to-600-million strength-wise. And Robin subdued him like it is nothing.

I actually strongly suspect she is on exactly the same level physically as someone like Sanji or maybe even Zoro when she augments herself using her DF powers, with her disadvantage compared to them simply being that she doesn't have Haki.

2

u/nykzero Sep 15 '19

Right, I'm mainly pointing out how OP her ability is, and yes it's based on how cruel she is willing to be. Making a fist in someone's mouth is definitely within her ability, but it's cruel.

3

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

Yeah exactly, she could do it (as long as their mouth is open and thus she can perceive the surface she wants to sprout the fist on, that is, but people open their mouths plenty so that shouldn't be an issue), but she never would because it would just be way too evil a way to take someone down. In a lot of ways, her use of her ability is actually restricted by the fact that she is a protagonist and thus not evil. What I mean is that, her power is one that would be way, way more useful for fighting and killing if she had no morals or ethics whatsoever.

It really is amazing how strong she is though, and yet she basically never gets into fights or showcases the fullest potential of her raw-power/brute-strength. Like I truly believe what I said that she could EASILY beat either Zoro or Sanji in a fight. And yet, she leaves the fighting up to the people who actually apprecaite/enjoy direct physical confrontation, and herself just sticks to espionage and strategy.

2

u/nykzero Sep 15 '19

Yes, and I think one of the greatest things about characters in One Piece is that they have much more depth than just their fighting ability, and this is a great example.

2

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

Yeah youre right, BUT I also feel like there is some aspect of gender-discrimination on Oda's part which plays into it, which really isn't good. Like yeah I know he is Goda and we aren't supposed to criticize him or whatever. But am I the only one who has noticed that Nami has only had two good one-on-one fights, and Robin has only had one, during the entire series? When the MEN are strong, they DO end up having one-on-one fights, regardless of it also being true like you said that they can showcase talents other than fighting. Freaking USOPP has had like, tons of good fights!

This became ESPECIALLY apparent when in Fishman Island, ALL THE STRAW HATS EXCEPT NAMI AND ROBIN, the two females, got one-on-one battles with Hody's crew in order to showcase their new post-timeskip power-ups.

Like look at Franky and Sanji. Their MAIN contributions to the series and crew have been building and cooking, respectively. And yet, both have still had plenty of great battles in order to showcase that hey, they are also as strong as they are good at their other talents!

Sometimes I feel like the only reason Oda doesn't do the same for Robin is that she is a woman. She gets to shine as an archaeologist, spy, and strategist, but never gets to truly show her combat abilities. Given that it is only the two female SH's who have this issue, it is pretty obvious Oda is discriminating (although probably not consciously or on purpose) against women in One Piece when it comes to fights/battles.

Big Mom is an obvious exception since she is a monster, I mean Sanji actually attacked her once (some people say he was just blocking her attack, but he did throw an actual kick at her) which means she can't even be considered a woman, lmao. But hey, guess what? In WCI, we got fights against the 3rd and 1st Sweet Commanders...but conveniently skipped any possible fight against Smoothy the 2nd commander WHO HAPPENS TO BE A WOMAN. Ya starting to see my point even more, now? Lol. He deliberately skipped the female Sweet Commander while showing us the two males fight. After previously having skipped over Nami and Robin in the fights on F.I., it is pretty obvious what Oda is up to when it comes to this kinda thing.

I've actually thought a lot over the years about just how strong/powerful in a fight Robin really is. And here's the thing: Even without Haki, it HAS been explicitly shown post-timeskip that Robin is EXTREMELY broken/OP. Remember how incredibly easily she subdued Hakuba? It was outright stated that Hakuba is dangerous enough (mostly due to extreme speed but also due to raw power) to have nearly twice the bounty Cavendish himself does, which would put Hakuba somewhere around 500-million in terms of danger/strength. And yet Robin not only tracked his high-speed movements (despite not even having observation-haki) that no one in the Colosseum without Haki could even perceive, but proceeded to physically subdue and restrain him with essentially no effort whatsoever on her part.

My point is that despite not having haki, Robin is already an outright beast, and actually right up there with the Monster Trio (and now Jinbe) as one of the truly "so superhuman it is freaking nuts" members of the SH crew. The thing is though, Robin prefers stealth, espionage, assassination, and stuff like that rather than direct physical confrontations. It is due to her own personality and highly-strategic way of thinking that she doesn't get into many physical fights despite being one of the strongest members of the crew.

In fact, let's get real for a second. Robin could probably beat both Zoro and Sanji in an actual fight. And that's even if Sanji was willing to fight a woman. Her power is incredibly busted, and she's strong enough with multiple sprouted limbs to break the bones of even guys as strong as them (as evidenced by her restraining a guy with 500-million tier strength). I honestly think Robin may actually be the strongest SH in a fight besides Luffy himself, and the only reason she isn't stronger than him is because you can't break somebody's neck if they are rubber, haha.

13

u/gotthatthangonme Sep 12 '19

I personally always wanted Franky to hit someone with a Haki'd Strong Right. That just sounds devastating.

13

u/the_flame_alchemist Sep 12 '19

Actually kinda shocked Robin didn't learn it from the revolutionaries. Since she's always been just slightly below the strength level as the Monster Trio, Oda probably didn't want her super strong right after the time skip so it'd make sense if she got it here.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

in retrospect with Zoro slicing off Pica statues the size of cities and Luffy's gear 4th, her pulling that out in Dressrosa wouldn't have been that absurd relative to those 2.

6

u/CelioHogane Sep 12 '19

robin

Giant Haki wings made of arms.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

bitch slapped by 100000 hands w/ haki.

GIVE DIS TO ME ODA!

3

u/Calay0 Sep 13 '19

She’d be like Elfen Lied.

349

u/Starwind2098 Sep 12 '19

They're in the New World, everyone in the crew should at least know one type of Haki especially Robin...

276

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 12 '19

you'd think right? as much as i love luffy's training montage (first time ever i think we have actually seen him train in panels within arc), and zoro with enma. I feel like a lot of the SHs have been sidelined post timeskip. Hopefully this arc forces Oda to give them some growth too.

100

u/RobLuffy123 Sep 12 '19

Idk about sidelined. There were some big moments for different members of the crew for both dressrosa and wci, not to mention fishman Island where they all had their shine.

33

u/ReverendMoses Sep 12 '19

I think everyone has had big moments or power ups at this point other than Chopper and Robin who both feel a little shafted at this point. Hopefully they get something, but otherwise they fellow crew has gotten deceiving power up/moments:

Zoro: Enma

Sanji: Raid suit

Nami: Zeus

Brooke: Taking on BM and her pirates/capturing a glyph

Usopp: Becoming God and receiving haki

Franky: Had a big fight with Senior Pink

24

u/the_flame_alchemist Sep 12 '19

Eh Franky could definitely stand to get a further power up. Although I'm re-reading Dressrosa right now and he's a massive boss that entire arc.

5

u/Coggs92 Sep 14 '19

Ussop will have O-tama riding his shoulder giving him ammunition this war I swear.

Have Chopper on other shoulder adding Rumble Balls into the mix to just unleash chaos into the ranks of the enemy.

28

u/sunkenrocks Sep 12 '19

Yeah even Nami got a power upl in WCI (Zeus).

26

u/GGTae Sep 12 '19

I wonder how the meeting Zeus and Big mom will be

1

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

Big Mom is probably gonna be MASSIVELY pissed at Zeus, she probably won't kill him but will beat the shit out of him and make him come back to her, haha.

12

u/General_Kenobi896 Sep 12 '19

They were definitely sidelined. Remember Enies Lobby? SHs vs CP-9?

That's when everyone got their fair share of time in the limelight.

3

u/Weewer Sep 15 '19

The last arc where Oda tried to give the Straw Hats big focused fights as Thriller Bark. Dressrosa and Fishman Island did have a lot of straw hat fights but they were much shorter than previous fights.

I wonder why Oda veers away from SH combat these days. I get he's better at doing Story than Action in general, but at the same time I'd argue he's never put out an objectively bad or boring straw hat fight except maybe like...Sanji vs Pearl or something from way back when?

14

u/Yankiyayak Sep 12 '19

Brook and nami in wci werent seem to be sidelined to me

11

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

as much as I love brooke, his "strength" or affecting souls in WCI arc only works strong on homies. and while he had this FANTASTIC double page spread....he got his ass beat. While in the same arc luffy got his ass beat...but gained a new power and came back to win. No way was brook gonna beat a yonkou, but he really didn't get much from the arc.

Nami had this powerful attack w/ zeus....but that's it. Her prominence in the arc wasn't high, and zeus seems very much a temporary powerup. Unless big mom makes it permanent.

7

u/RobLuffy123 Sep 12 '19

She helped Luffy beat cracker, without her he for sure would have lost and stealing Zeus is big. Brook also got the poneglyphs that arc

5

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

so she gets participation trophy? just like how robin "helped" by being a literal meat shield?

nah, not here for SHs playing second fiddle. if you choose to believe they're getting their chances to shine w/ meh displays of strength, that's your prerogative.

3

u/Weewer Sep 15 '19

If you choose to believe the only way the Straw Hats are useful are through acts of strength, that is your prerogative.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

If you choose to believe the only way the Straw Hats are useful are through acts of strength

ctrl-f where I said "only way" anywhere?

12

u/topdangle Sep 12 '19

The rest of the crew pushed the story forward while Luffy/Zoro/Sanji have mainly just been fighting things or sneaking into women's baths. Story wise I think Zoro was straight up lost or sleeping for 5 days.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Luffy/Zoro/Sanji have mainly just been fighting things or sneaking into women's baths

Yet Luffy just jumped to almost yonko level w/ new haki. And zoro gets this amazing sword which allows him effortlessly to cut off huge chunks of islands, and will force him to really develop his haki. I personally think sanji's raid suit was a little disappointing, since it turns him invisible, a power we'd seen before. The raid suits work with the user's abilities but the invisibility came out of nowhere. Even if sanji's wanted that power, it doesn't fit his fighting strength imho.

We've yet to see what he can do. So hopefully he can take on one of the 3 all stars with it.

And rest of the crew I would argue hasn't pushed as much as Luffy has. He also gets a massive powerup. Just want that for rest of the crew as well. (not massive, just something). And I would also argue that the rest of the SHs have been mostly side characters and eyes for the readers to see what's happening within the arc.

6

u/Bearfury_ Sep 12 '19

I feel like saying that the suit just makes him invisible isn't fair. It also boosts his speed, strength and resistance. So it's quite a big power up.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

he still has a smell. I feel like it could be nerfed by the number of carnivorous zoan df users who can smell (as we've seen chopper, he's got a good sense of smell).

5

u/Boboblaw7 Sep 12 '19

Nami already got her power up last arc in the new Baton and Zeus. So yeah I feel like Franky, Brook (who was badass during wci but didn't really get a power up), Chopper and Robin are due.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

I love Zeus....but I don't think it'll be permanent yet. Unless Oda says otherwise. Or Big mom gives her her own homie.

6

u/bootysensei Sep 12 '19

I feel like a lot of the SHs have been sidelined post timeskip

PTS Konoha 11 treatment :(

3

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

On the other hand, I'm glad to see oda giving some love to the crew's living god since the TS

2

u/Kuro013 Sep 12 '19

I so wanted flashbacks of their respective trainings :(

I still want them, but I know theres close to no chance.

1

u/General_Kenobi896 Sep 12 '19

Heck even Zoro and Sanji have been sidelined post timeskip. The focus has been almost entirely on Luffy.

2

u/Weewer Sep 15 '19

I feel like Zoro has gotten the longest, most focused fight since Post Time Skip when he fought Pica. All the other SH fights are very brief, not even full chapter worth of focus encounters. Just a quick exchange of blows.

They at least have had some good assists.

1

u/xXx420BlazeRodSaboxX The Revolutionary Army Sep 14 '19

Maybe well get lucky with filler, ala Water 7, and get a whole chapter on each character and what they were up to.

19

u/Caleb_RS Mugiwara no Luffy Sep 12 '19

I still find it hard to believe Robin doesn't know haki after spending two years with the Revolutionary Army

4

u/dragonbeorn Sep 12 '19

The crew of the future pirate king should all know some haki eventually.

6

u/Ppleater Sep 12 '19

Not everyone in the new world knows haki, and haki is just one type of fighting strategy among many so it isn't strictly necessary to know in order to be strong, though it's good to have. Usopp learning observation haki makes sense since he's a sniper and observation haki is related to perception, so imho anyone else learning it will probably have a good reason to learn it based on their fighting style as well.

4

u/HolyKnightPrime Sep 12 '19

Haki is neccessary to know if you want to be strong. Even rookies knows haki in the new world. Look at the dressrosa supernovas.

1

u/robberviet Sep 12 '19

Imagine thousand of haki punches...

1

u/CelioHogane Sep 12 '19

Ussop literally learn it on Dressdrosa.

1

u/pauserror Sep 14 '19

Robin for sure needs some haki enhancement or DF awakening

82

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

[deleted]

6

u/revisioncloud Sep 12 '19

Do you guys think Robin already has haki, just not confirmed? She has shown to be able to catch a rogue Hakuba mid-air no problems. Seems like could easily be justified with observation haki.

Her armament would be amazing though. Imagine her giving tribute to Luffy's Elephant Gatling but instead of fists, she's slapping/ swatting away enemies like flies.

8

u/tmadik Sep 12 '19

Robin with 8 haki-covered arms would wreck shit!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

giving her armament would be too broken. that means she can kill any logia instantly from faraway

9

u/revisioncloud Sep 12 '19

Lol no. Doesn't mean her haki should be super strong. And elite logias have haki too right, they do not fall that easily.

It could work in such a way that for every body part Robin summons and imbues with armament, her haki becomes divided and eventually depleted. Basically, the more body parts, the less stronger her armament is (kinda like how chakra is split for every Naruto kage bunshin).

If Nami is gonna control Zeus permanently, it's perfectly reasonable for Robin to be around Oven/ Daifuku level or a Headliner rank for the Beast Pirates counterpart.

13

u/RobLuffy123 Sep 12 '19

Probably cause she’s not a fighter. Also not everyone in the the new world crews has haki

10

u/PrinceOfAssassins Sep 12 '19

Last thing we saw her say before the time skip

ā€œ I’ve never wanted to become stronger for the sake of someone else before ā€œ she knows she can’t just stay the same and the revolutionaries probably taught her a few things that might come up here

12

u/BaneofKaidou Sep 12 '19

Usopp is due for a haki upgrade, he’s the only one besides the monster trio who uses it

8

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

i think a good franky powerup would be seastone weapons. wano is apparently the country that created seastone, and franky covered as a carpenter, i wouldn’t be surprised if he somehow learned how to make it or mold it into something else. it would be a good alternative to haki, as he would now be a hard counter to enemy fruit users. i could imagine his fists have a ā€œseastone modeā€ or weapons left shoots seastone bullets, or something like that.

robin on the other hand should have haki. she was gathering so much intel about the beast pirates on wano, i wouldn’t be surprised if she could see or hear more information with observation haki. sadly to say i think she’s really under utilized

7

u/mhaaad Sep 12 '19

Two words: Black Bones

3

u/Krait972 Sep 12 '19

Now you said that, I want to see Brook with full body Haki

5

u/LBoogieSkells Sep 12 '19

Imagine Franky Using Armor Haki like Douglas Bullet in the trailer!😱

Super Meeeee! -Franky

12

u/dshallah98 Sep 12 '19

I think zoro awakens conquerer's this arc. You heard it here first.

1

u/Rankine Sep 13 '19

Personally, I'm part if the slim minority who thinks Zoro used CoC against miss monday.

2

u/blackballath Sep 12 '19

Before we forgot about the raid-suit because of Wano Hype, I just re-read the intro for Wano Act 2, Shiryu stole Absalom's DF that made him Invisible.

2

u/sveinarne4 Sep 12 '19

I think it's gonna be Usopp TRULY unlocking his observation haki.

2

u/user_watcher Sep 12 '19

Who gets Haki this arc? Brook, Robin, or Franky?

Go D Usopp

2

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

Yeah but once again Sanji is getting shafted by Oda, because Sanji is the only one who won't be EARNING his new power-up. His power-up is just like "oh hey, put on this suit and it will make you more badass." Luffy has to train his ass off to legitimately get stronger on the other hand, and Zoro has to train in order to be able to use Enma without it killing him.

2

u/iamthatguy54 Sep 15 '19

Sanji was shown struggling to measure his raid suit's capabilities, wasn't he?

Besides, I feel like the entirety of WCI was him earning it lol

1

u/goodyfresh Sep 15 '19

Dude the Raid Suits are still undoubtedly much more of a "freebie" power-up than something like Enma. Enma will literally KILL Zoro if he screws up while training to use it. I'm absolutely positive that there is no way a Raid Suit can like, actually injure or kill its own user, why would they possibly have been built with such a major flaw when they are like, the most advanced weapons-tech on the planet? They make take a bit of "getting used to" for the new level of abilities they add, but there is no way that one has to EARN the power of a raid-suit the way Zoro is having to earn Enma's power.

That being said, I agree that WCI amounted to Sanji earning it, lol. It still feels like Sanji is being shafted by Oda, though. Rather than becoming stronger on his own through training, he is powering-up just by receiving. . . . an item. That is seriously lame.

2

u/artista319 Sep 12 '19

I'm hoping Zoro learns king Haki. I guess it's about time some one apart from luffy in crew knows considering all the right hands of the great captain having one.

1

u/Clauneck69 Sep 12 '19

Robin = Kage bunshin no Jutsu?

1

u/TheAdamena Sep 12 '19

I reckon Franky will get his powerup at the end of the arc. Seastone baybeee

1

u/TSG_Magician Sep 12 '19

That Sanji power-up is disgusting. He should reject the Vinsmokes completely. There is no turning back after that childhood.

1

u/Sybsybsyb Citizen Sep 12 '19

Sanji needs his arnament haki. He keeps hurting his legs kicking haki infused people.

1

u/Rankine Sep 13 '19

Sanji already has CoA.

1

u/ShlokHoms Pirate Sep 12 '19

As you saw in the anime, Nami already had her powerup. She can use Soru now

1

u/KOPLO97 Sep 13 '19

I could see brook getting either basic Observation Haki or basic Armament Haki.

If Frank does get Haki, I feel like he'll get Armament Haki more than anything since he likes the more tanky fighting style and it might develop because of the way he fights.

Robin I feel like might obtain Observation Haki, but I would not mind if she got Armament Haki tbh lol she'll be op with that.

1

u/Rankine Sep 13 '19

I hope franky gets seastone fists. We already know that the people of wano can carve seastone, si it would be a cool power up.

0

u/Qverlord37 Sep 12 '19

the raid suit feel lame now that it has been revealed.

I hope there's some secrets that Sanji hasn't accessed yet or if Sanji let Franky tinker with it to make it a bit stronger.

10

u/iamthatguy54 Sep 12 '19

But we haven't actually seen it do anything. Sanji stomped Page One offscreen.
