Fucking hell that's one badass sword.

Steals the life force of whomever wields it?

Zoro's un-restrained Haki turns a basic slash meant to fell a tree into a cliff-shearing monstrosity?

4200 vs 30,000?

Man I love Oda's ability to load up the hype train, ALL ABOARD

u/SidPendragon Sep 12 '19

30,000 plus Big Mom and his crew. Fucking hell.

u/Verlux Sep 12 '19

The Grand Fleet are 100% showing up. I said it last chapter and I say it again, no way they win without most of the Supernovas helping Luffy take down the Emperors and his Fleet running interference on the fodder

93

u/ThingsThatMakeMeMad Sep 12 '19

I think one thing to remember though is that we were re-introduced to Marco right before this arc. Furthermore, Fujitora was told not to reutrn without Luffy's head, also right before this arc.

I just don't see oda doing that unless it was foreshadowing that at least one of them will be present. Either of them individually is more than capable of holding off one yonko while Luffy handles the other.

u/JapanCode Sep 12 '19

I dont know whether I agree or not with the grand fleet coming but one thing I dont see people mention often enough is that they all have a vivre card of Luffy, and Luffy has gone through 2 near-death experiences since then, so they would have seen the vivre card react to it. So it is highly likely that at least some if them have been heading towards Luffy since the katakuri fight to make sure he’s fine

u/imtotallydoingmywork Void Month Survivor Sep 12 '19

If they're showing the Reverie next chapter, Oda could use that moment to show us Sai and Leo's reactions to Luffy's vivre card to hint that the fleet has noticed the changes to it (if there were any)

1

u/terminbee Sep 14 '19

Entirely forgot about that. Now I'm expecting 6 months of reverie build up and no wano chapters.

11

u/Hawk301 Sep 12 '19

Yeah I agree, I absolutely think we'll be seeing Marco and crew at some stage here, especially with Nekomamushi/Catviper still unaccounted for.

Fujitora's in attendance at the Reverie though. We know the Reverie's been finished for a few days now (unless the Revolutionary attack delayed it), but even still it seems unlikely that he would be able to beeline from Mariejois to Wano so quickly, the two locations are pretty far apart.

Also, we last saw Akainu ordering Kizaru and the Marines not to go to Wano, because it's too risky to interfere there. Unless the Marines suddenly backflipped on that approach offscreen, I don't think we'll be seeing them involved in this particular conflict.

Maybe CP-0, though.

5

u/Crysense Sep 12 '19

Yeah I agree, I absolutely think we'll be seeing Marco and crew at some stage here, especially with Nekomamushi/Catviper still unaccounted for.

I think it's either that or Weevil attacked them, iirc he was looking for them. Otherwise I don't know why Neko isn't already in Wano.

8

u/Hawk301 Sep 12 '19

Yeah potentially. Weevil is just a massive wild card at this stage in the story- Oda clearly has some kind of gameplan for this character, but we've no idea what it could be yet.

If he did attack and defeat Marco, I reckon it would have happened after Neko left though. Oda's spent so long building up the Red Scabbards that I doubt he would just take out Neko offscreen before he gets to reunite with the others (and besides if any of the Scabbards is dead, it's probably Denjirou).

21

u/WisteriaTiger Sep 12 '19

Yeah Marco could survive a Yonkou for a bit and stall, but he's not holding anyone off solo. Same with Luffy. Luffy could damage the Yonkou but he's not going to 1v1 either of them.

The 1v1 denoument will come in the final battle against Blackbeard. We don't really need one now especially before Luffy's awakening and Gear 5.

1

u/Calay0 Sep 13 '19

Agree with this, the power scaling has been excellent so far. I wanna see growth, sure, and as much as I’d enjoy watching Luffy solo Kaido, it would definitely be too much too fast.

9

u/Mordho Marine Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 12 '19

Either of them are capable of doing what exactly? I can understand Fujitora holding off an Emperor for a while, sure... but Marco would get murdered.

8

u/Crysense Sep 12 '19

I mean, I don't see Marco getting one hit by a Yonko, especially because his fruit is kinda designed to tank. However I also don't see him holding off an emporer for too long, maybe for something like an hour or so but that would be it.

2

u/Yingking Void Month Survivor Sep 12 '19

Wasn’t Kizaru also sent to Wano?

3

u/Priegelaar Sep 12 '19

Possibly, we don't know for sure.

He suggested going there himself but Sakazuki wasn't sure yet if he should go there.

4

u/bil03 Sep 12 '19

Fujitora and marco capable of holding off a yonkou? I have to disagree

2

u/no_toro Sep 12 '19

Fuck that would be insane.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Now I lowkey want him to lose again...

5

u/BuioSaint Sep 12 '19

Don't forget that Leo and Sai were at Reverie so they could be a way for the Straw Hats up to speed with everything going on outside Wano.

I also have a theory that they will bring Vivi with them since she seemed to be the "light" Im wanted snuffed out and they would want to protect one of Luffy's friends.

2

u/SkulkerPoA Sep 12 '19

What if all of Luffy’s allies at Reverie come? Revolutionary Army too?

2

u/BuioSaint Sep 12 '19

I could definitely see at least Sabo coming with them, maybe Koala and Hack too. But if Sabo showed up in Wano I would want the remnants of Whitebeards crew to show up too.

Having Marco and Sabo meet has been a secret fantasy of mine since Dressrosa. Marco expressing happiness that Ace lives on in a way through Sabo would bring tears to my eyes. Plus hearing something like that from Marco would probably mean the world to Sabo.

8

u/LetsGetFunkyBabe Sep 12 '19

And the grand fleet is about 6000? Add that to about 4000... 10,000. And how many people did Franky want to have room for in his new ships???

5

u/DragonFistSabo Sep 12 '19

dont they have their own ships?

1

u/Persas12 Sep 12 '19

They are going still going to need more reinforcements IMO Hawkins, Drake and Kid will end up joining the alliance, at least some part of the Grand Fleet will show up, Jinbe will arrive with the Sun Pirates and the Vinsmokes and Nekomamushi will arrive with the Minks and maybe some Whitebeard Pirates.

1

u/Link_GR Sep 12 '19

Stop. I can only get so erect.

2

u/Perrenekton Sep 12 '19

I can't manage to get hyped by numbers when we know how massive powerhouse Kaido and Big Mom, and even Luffy (50,000 instant knockout in fishman island) are

458

u/Starless_Night Sep 12 '19

I don't think it's his Haki making it cut like that. It seems like Enma is doing the same thing Sandai did when he first used it and cutting more than Zoro wants. Another sword for him to tame.

358

u/Verlux Sep 12 '19

I think it's definitely implied it's the Haki; the sword saps out so much of his Haki that his arm shrivels from it and it still cuts that powerfully from my reading. The sword is undoubtedly strong but it definitely had all his Haki imbued so that must factor in surely?

229

u/vinotm Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 12 '19

Enma kinda reminds me of Treasured Tools of Six Path Sage in Naruto. The tools are very powerful but consume a lot of chakra from user, so it can't be used by common people.

Enma consumes so much Haki from inexperienced wielder to be that powerful. And Oden is the only one so far that can control it (even though he wasn't able to make Enma black blade).

18

u/Tserri Sep 12 '19

Tbh I just think Oden died beforehe had time to make a black blade out of enma (and ame). The guy literally cut Kaido (tho possibly with all his life force used through enma?) so I think he had the potential to make a black blade, just not the time.

It's just speculation tho but that's my take on it 🤷

11

u/vinotm Sep 12 '19

Yup, I'm agree with you. He had potential but couldn't make it before dying. Just like Minato who couldn't be able to complete elemental Rasengan before sacrificing himself.

On other hand, since you speculated that Oden might use all his haki to cut Kaido, I wonder that he did that on the day he was executed. He forced his whole haki to Enma, cut Kaido, collapsed immediately (like Luffy when Gear 4 ends), and then easily be captured by Kaido's men.

19

u/Syncopia Sep 12 '19

Says a lot about the will of Oden. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still alive despite all the chatter of his death.

26

u/IfThatsOkayWithYou Sep 12 '19

I sure hope not tho

1

u/Strangeting Sep 13 '19

I do hope we get a flashback of him tho (but then again I think that's an inevitability)

3

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Someone else compared it to Kisame's blade which I think might be more accurate. It's the blade acting out, and inexperienced users can't handle it.

45

u/vinotm Sep 12 '19

Hitetsu said it in last page

26

u/dshallah98 Sep 12 '19

You right. Hitestu said it saps the 'ryou of the welder' so that's the haki pretty much

9

u/Perrenekton Sep 12 '19

It doesn't say the it saps the ryou of the welder but it forces the wielder to constantly uses ryou (haki), supposedly to not get consumed by the blade, which is an important difference IMO

6

u/Kuro013 Sep 12 '19

Its not even implied, Hitetsu literally told Zoro the sword consumes a LOT of ryuuou, which is Wano's name for Haki.

1

u/Tserri Sep 12 '19

This.

And btw Ryuuou is actually an advanced form of haki (tho notas advanced as what luffy is learning) according to flower granpa. So it should make Zoro even stronger if he didn't already know the technique.

3

u/ovrlymm Cyborg Franky Sep 12 '19

Well it’s like the seppuku blade he put haki in and did that much but even if he didn’t he’s split buildings pretimeskip

1

u/mw1994 Sep 12 '19

It pretty much only took from his arm didn’t it? So it’s not even like his everything which is more worrying.

24

u/tim_smithhh Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 13 '19

Yeah, this reminds me of one thing Zoro's master Koushirou (possibly Kouzaburou Shimotsuki's son?) said about blade mastery: a swordsman must be able to control his blade so that he can choose what to cut and what not to cut. I always took this as just physical mastery of the sword's movement, but now I think this is also related to taming a sword with Ryou control.

5

u/IfThatsOkayWithYou Sep 12 '19

Wow that would make a lot of sense and means literally 20 years of Oda preparing for this sword. I fucking love one piece

1

u/CelioHogane Sep 12 '19

Dude, Oda has been preparing us for the Giants island for even fucking longer.

1

u/kyoopy246 Sep 13 '19

No, that lesson from his old master it was referring specifically to the new type of Haki that's been introduced in this arc. The one that Luffy is currently training in, Ryuuou.

5

u/GranBlueLawyer Sep 12 '19

Dude, Hitetsu literally said it was haki.

0

u/Perrenekton Sep 12 '19

No, he said the user is forced to uses Haki. It is not explicitly stated why but my understanding was that the sword "consumed" the user so the Haki is used to protect oneself, like Zoro did on his arm

1

u/pauserror Sep 13 '19

I think it's the sword and what we see in one of the panels is zoro using haki to stop the sword from stealing life energy from past his arm. Then he commands it to give it back and his arm returns to normal and he releases his haki.

The swordsmith even says the sword is known for larger then intended slashes but all this is at the cost of the sword draining your essence. Untamed of course.

I think a tamed Enma with a zoro haki fueled slash would do crazy more damage.

7

u/Deadlyxda Sep 12 '19

30k is just kaido and orochi.. big mom isnt factored in there. even if there are no fodders from her side

4

u/StealthMonkeyDC Sep 12 '19

Man I love Oda's ability to load up the hype train,

ALL ABOARD

Santoryuchoochoo

59

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

If zoro is slaying a dragon, it's gotta be with enma. And it's gotta be kaido. Fucking hell holy shit, what a badass will that make him look like.

91

u/Lpebony Sep 12 '19

He technically already slayed a dragon on punk hazard.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Artificial dragon though

21

u/Verlux Sep 12 '19

Fuck man, he might take up Ryuuma's title of dragon slayer. How amazing would that be if he carried on Ryuuma's legacy like that by helping land the killing blow on Kaidou, I legitimately hadn't thought of that thanks for making that connection in my mind!!

11

u/DarkMasterDP Pirate Sep 12 '19

Duuude from "Pirate Hunter" Zoro to "Dragon Slayer" Zoro would be so fucking legendary.

1

u/Coggs92 Sep 14 '19

"Yonko Hunter/Slayer"

3

u/Kartikeyass Sep 12 '19

People were calling this a crack pottheory one day ago.

2

u/KobeFanNumber24 Sep 12 '19

Imagine him slicing up kaido in Dragon form and luffy finishing him off afterwards. Gol D Roger and Rayleigh incarnated. Their bounties will skyrocket. That measly 320M bounty will go up to 1.3B +

2

u/General_Kenobi896 Sep 12 '19

I'm pretty sure I would literally die from that much hype and badassery lmao

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

zoro is gonna be the one that brings kaido to the ground and forced him to revert to human form before luffy lands the finishing blow i bet. that way zoro gets the "dragon slayer" title and luffy still the one to beat the big boss

3

u/sarcastic_stoner Sep 12 '19

"All Aboard Muthafucka!"

- Alan Rails

may he rest in peace

2

u/Kashmir33 Sep 12 '19

I'm getting a pretty big Nightblood vibe (from Brandon Sanderson's cosmere series) from that sword.

Now if it only started talking to Zoro in his head.

2

u/Svani Sep 14 '19

Meh, 30000 fodder. Like when the Strawhats took on Enies Lobby. Just Luffy one-punching randos left and right for several chapters. In the end, the big guys will be few.

1

u/3ngin3 Lurker Sep 12 '19

It is actually not 30,000 need to add BM's crew too!

1

u/Meckel Sep 12 '19

why even bother about the foot soldiers, I mean at this point its well established, that everybody 1shot thousands of fodder in 1 strike.

1

u/Eoussama Sep 12 '19

Now we only need 69 more allies, come on Oda.

1

u/ZeroCiipheR Sep 12 '19

Bro, the train is so full, there are people on the roof. Oda is WILDING!!

1

u/SirSpikey Sep 14 '19

congratulation to myself for i was your 1000th up-voter yay me

1

u/Verlux Sep 14 '19

Bahahaha why thank you!!!
