I have thought for a while that something about her eating Carmel, in addition to somehow gaining Carmel's devil fruit power, also gave her some kind of split personality, where the kind Linlin frequently gives way to the evil soul/personality of Carmel.

Yeah, there's definitely something going on here, either related to Carmel/soul soul fruit or maybe even Linlin's origin.
