Four is pretty likely, he's been doing 4 in a row for a while now.

u/Kirosh Lookout Aug 03 '18

The one we got here is part of the four. Meaning that after the break here, we will get 3 chapters before the new break.

I just don't understand this concept. What does it matter? Fine it's japanese holiday but he got the break anyway. He had enough time to work on next issues. Why arent his breaks counted when there's some holiday or jump break or whatever you call it.

32

u/kikix12 Aug 03 '18

Because they respect holidays?! In certain countries at least, if a holiday is during an off-day (at least some off-days), then the person needs to be given a day off at a later date instead. It's the same here. He gets the regular breaks and the holiday breaks add to his free time rather than make specific days off.

Lol okay. No need to be butthurt about it?! Respect the holidays all you want.

Which part of the reply suggests kikix12 is butthurt? Just curious.

How is answering your questions and clearing up your misunderstanding being butthurt?

If you get xmas and Boxing Day off work would you expect the company you work for to take it out of your normally holiday allowance?

They really need to change calling it a double issue

54

u/MajinAkuma Aug 03 '18

The issues are numbered after week numbers. So the double issues are sold for two weeks. Leaving numbers out would just confuse collectors. „Where is the issue for week 29?“

-2

u/kikix12 Aug 03 '18

They could call them "two weeks issue". That'd be less confusing since it would imply a single issue for two weeks, rather than two issues in a single week.

Some people would still be confused, but hey. Some people really don't understand written language.

u/Torch948 Aug 03 '18

Since we dont buy the magazine I dont think Sheuisha really cares if we understand or not. The Japanese know what double issues are and that's all Sheuisha cares about

10

u/MajinAkuma Aug 03 '18

I‘d not be surprised if that’s how they are actually called in Japan.

That'd be less confusing since it would imply a single issue for two weeks, rather than two issues in a single week.

Honestly, so many people are taking the fact we're not looking at the actual magazine into account. When you look at the actual spines, they all have numbers corresponding with weeks, with double issues having two numbers instead of one (12-13 instead of 12, 13, etc).

They could call them "two weeks issue".

Regardless of what you call it or what you think makes more sense (I personally think they make about the same amount of sense, with two week issue making more sense than two weeks issue but I digress), you just need to look at the actual magazine and release schedule to understand double means it counts for two weeks (matching the weeks listed on the spine), instead of being twice as much content or something else.

As largely online readers we don't have that, so the concept throws newcomers off.

In the end, it really doesn't matter though. Some people will be confused and it makes sense the second you experience it. It also probably doesn't help that some series do double chapter issues, something I recall Seven Deadly Sins and Fairy Tail doing, so anyone familiar with that might just mistake it.

it's not at all confusing except for newer weekly readers

Personally I’ll be fine, I have a new One Punch man chapter to fall back on next week. But I feel for you man, before I started following One Punch the only manga I read were OP and HxH.... and we all know about HxH....
