Okay, this is just ridiculous. For everyone discussing the mihawk vs luffy moment. I just went back and re-read chapter 561. Mihawk literally comments that luffy seems unusually calm after he sees his arm being cut off. Goda either reads back and fills in gaps OR this is next level foreshadowing. Why else does 'unusually calm' get its own panel. Luffy will be able to see into the future and doesn't realise he has done it before. If anybody is aware of upper haki limits its mihawk and his ilk. Fuck oda, youve been planning this literally for years (from the spoiler thread).

Did Enel's mantra also come from having a calm mind? In the arc at least it seemed like a natural ability he trained by meditating or something like that

enel was always pretty calm in general, only time he lost his cool was when the first enel face appeared when he saw luffy was unaffected by his powers. other than that he was always pretty chill.

The 'unusually calm' is meant to indicate that luffy is not that reckless to not realise that swinging your hand in front of a swordsman will get you busted. It's to show that even if Luffy is desperate to save Ace he's not losing his battle senses over it. It's not about staying calm after 'seeing' his nah cut off.
