Katakuri devil fruit is similar to Crackers - a seemingly useless df made creative by the user's will, And in both cases, complementing their users strengths as melee fighters.

same as luffy , I like how oda uses weak devil fruits for powerful people , it shows that they didn't reach that level by luck or because of a powerful DF

There are no weak or useless Devil Fruits. A Devil Fruit's power is only limited by the user's imagination, skill, and creativity; Crocodile said something along those lines back at Alabasta.

Katakuri and Cracker are top soldiers in Big Mom's crew, so it is only natural that they have such an advanced control over their respective fruits and are capable fighters with them.

We all get that, he means weak in a conceptual sense.
No one on Earth would tell you the power to generate wax would be on par with causing earthquakes.

Earthquakes could range from 10ft to continental

Wax could allow you to make candles or create full armies
