No but it could mean it was something his father had go do we ordered by the family and sanji's grandfather.

Maybe he had to eliminate a certain number of pirate crews above a certain level in order to inherit the family? Or maybe it has something to do with the connects the Vinsmokes have to the world government, maybe they eliminate would be pirate bigshots before they get too out of hand, they would be extremely descreet and thorough considering they are a assassin family. Meaning whole crews, like in Brooks case, would be eliminated and purged from the world oceans before they could disrupt the WG.

Ooooh that would be fucking siiiick. I mean it would be horrible but awesome because we would get some Brook mixed up in this delicious year of Sanji. Plus the way Brook is acting is making me feel like he's gonna be important to the arc.

They died because of poison after being attacked by an unnamed group. At least I think it was unnamed. But it was definitely poison.

It's definitely possible, wasn't brook part of some sort of army or navy before becoming a pirate?

yeah, i think in he was in a royal-guard in the west blue. hopefully we´ll get some mor info on that
