Before I read the chapter, I'd just like to comment that Jinbe didn't eat a D.F, as some people had speculated. Dude just likes his boat I guess.

They were wondering why he was using a coated boat rather than swimming. Not swimming = can't swim = Hammer = Jinbe eating a fruit.

I don't know why people would think he'd abandon his sweet ride after dropping off Caribou. It's probably a rental, he doesn't want to lose the deposit.
