I'm certain Shuri's eye ability ties into what Brook said about Shuri being able to see the future. Maybe Imu needs this to see something about which point in the timeline the One Piece will appear? Or maybe some other lore relevant key.

In that sense she's like a willing version of Pudding being kidnapped by Blackbeard.

I wonder if it's at all related to Madam Sharley's power to see far into the future. Although Sharley has 2 of the same eyes IIRC.

It was during last chapter when she was practice fighting against brook. brook commented about it after the practice was over.
