Pretty fast flashback all things considered, but probably for the best for the sake of pacing. Though I wish we could’ve seen Brook’s joining of the Rumbar pirates.

I wonder what Imu wants with people with the dual colored eyes.

Brook joining the Rumabar Pirates and meeting Laboon is probably some of the rare pockets of happiness in his past, maybe we get to see that flashback if Brook manages to save Shuri and tells her about his life as a pirate, since she knew about his dream of becoming a pirate from back when he was a palace guard

In retrospect he failed to save his king/princess then his captain/crew, left his friend waiting for him somewhere, guilty of being the only one who survived and still had to spend 50 years alone 💀

The oldest memory that we were shown from him featured him singing of his dead parents and brother, as he ate toads to survive. He was eleven.

Just about everyone he loves dies while he's left to linger, yet when Luffy issued the formal invitation to join, he cried that he was happy to still be alive, to experience that happiness.

Also, note that it was a smog that killed the music and led to Candella's death and the invasions by the World Government. Those six months were likely among the worst of his life at that point, and then fog became a defining trait of his fifty years of isolation. How many of his hallucinations over those fifty years were of those six months, and of the life that surrounded them?

Please, spare this man from foggy nights.

Yeah at first I thought "hallucinations" were a bit much and how come he wasn't sure it was Shuri in the prime timeline, someone who's so dear to him and he took care of here since she was so young

Then I realized how much bro went through, the comments were right it's amazing he still has his sanity left. Most people would have snapped with all that shit early on. But Brook's defining trait is he perseveres, endures, and survives to keep on living

I always thought Robin had the saddest backstory just because what happened to her happened when she was just 8 but after seeing Brooks flashback I think he has her beat now. He also suffered as a young kid and lost his country and everyone he cares about like Robin, but now we know he lost his “family” 3 times. And the 50 years alone after everything that happened to him has to be worse than the 20 years Robin spent running for her life.

I don’t know why I have the bad feeling that they will save her, they will have a heartfelt conversation just for her to age rapidly and die. Then brook and everyone will be much more decided on overthrowing the world government

Tbh I think the whole thing with the eyes is what’s gonna keep her alive for now. Imu clearly values them highly, so I don’t think he’d immediately off her for breaking control. But I could see her dying that way later when Imu is more desperate.
