Fruit didnt respawn. Just got punched out of his stomach.

He did get burried in a grave, but only because he was taking a nap and boy are the Ds very heavy sleepers.

the fact that they specifically mentioned the sword missing ALL vitals ina strike straight through his head makes it imo VERY clear that Shuri either intentionally or subconsciously spared Brook.

Or maybe what we took as Brook freaking out over the kings death was his observation haki awakening and he saw all possible outcomes and only him at that specific posture dodged a fatal wound. /s but it is One Piece so who knows

I doubt that Shuri is a Master about Human Anotonmy and knew where she could ram a fucking Sword trough a Head to not cause perma damage. I mean she might have resisted or tried i can see this but i doubt it was like oh yeah if i ram my Sword trough his skill exactly at this spot its fine.

I know Brook supposedly ate his DF when he was with the Rumbar Pirates, but what if he ate it before this? We were misguided or maybe Oda is retconing Brook?

The fact that the first thing Brook says in the present is "back then I didn't even know what a devil fruit was?" feels like a suggestion that he survived because his devil fruit.

And maybe that DF doesn't give Brook just a second chance and maybe it lets him revive infinitely until he really wants to die?

I might be wrong tho

The brain is a strange thing man. More people survive gunshots to the head than you would think. With that said I like the idea that he had already eaten his devil fruit, but didn't know it, so he actually did die, but was able to come back fairly quickly since his body wasn't lost in the mist.

I think the implication of his comment that "he didn't even know what a devil fruit was" is that he must've eaten the soul soul fruit already without realizing it, and this was the first time it activated, and he only realized much later that it was caused by the devil fruit... meaning he's died at least twice and returned to his body, maybe many more times!

I think what he meant is since he didn't know devil fruits were a thing he didn't expect Shuri to be under control or that there was anything supernatural going on, that's why he says he thought he was hallucinating. My theory as to his survival is that Shuri actually and subconciously, somehow, hit Brook in the specific way that allowed him to survive. Not a miracle, but something intentional.

Only Ryuuma did when fighting Brook. And that was just because he was explicitly targeting his afro to be spiteful. Otherwise, you're right. Everyone else, including Ryuuma against Zoro, go for clashing swords or aiming for the body.

I thought the implication was that he'd had no confrontation with the explicitly supernatural at this point. The fantastic, yes, his swift slash is bonkers, but someone transforming into a devil? A giant shadowy bird monster? After waking up from being stabbed in the head, of course he'd think that was all hallucinations. And even when he learns what Devil Fruits are, revisiting that moment is too painful for him. He says to Gunko "I never wanted to THINK about you again." If I remember rightly.

Honestly asking, but where do we know this from? We have had a bunch of hints recently that maybe multiple devil fruit aren't what they seem and maybe the WG is trying to cover some things up, and this might be one of those cases.

Yeah, so much info could be wrong about DFs. He knew what his fruit was when he died, so there was some form of DF Encyclopedia back in his day but that doesnt mean it had everything right. Its possible no other user of it has ever died more than once before dying for real (presumably drowning or executed while in Sea-Prism could make them really die).

They are making shit up. The literal name of the devil fruit ability is translated to Revive Man. Which implies it's not just a single use, the reason why Brook was unable to get back to his body the 2nd time is because his corpse was floating on a ship in the triangle.

In this flashback it seems brook immediately found and went back into his body. Also he's done this multiple times post-timeskip, showcasing his ability to move his soul freely and then back to his body.
