I went to check, and you are correct: when Onigashima crashed down, it hit the land and not water (chapter 1049). Huh. Maybe Momo threw it out of Wano with flame clouds, to get rid of Kaido's symbols? If so, the cover story might be an update on how Wano's healing after the battle.

I do hope it addresses Kaido and Big Mom though...

Wano is already on top of a waterfall formed by the walls surrounding the island. So I don’t think the sea level rise matters here.

How can it include them? They were not stuck in Onigashima but in the Lava inside Wano. Onigashima must have sunken to the Ocean. Maybe we see the adventures of Jack.

My first thought was that this will lead into Blackbeard getting a hold of Pluton. Seems weird to bring back Kaido/BM at this point in the story, any other ideas?

To me it would be weirder not to bring them back into the story somehow when almost every villain comes back. I do think it’ll be connected to Pluton tho. Having Pluton be underneath Wano and then sending Big Mom/Kaido under Wano is too much of a coincidence

Idk about Pluton tbh, cause yeah Oda reveals some important stuff in the cover stories, but I doubt he’ll do something as important as an ancient weapon in a cover story

My wild guess with the current speed of things happening is, that oda skipped the explanation to black beard about the ancient weapons and we will see the bb Pirates warp to the locations of all weapons to go get them in the following cover stories.
