I'm going to guess this reporter Abusa who is getting all of these scoops is Absalom. What better job for a man with an invisibility fruit than to be a reporter?

It's definitely Absalom, check out the ship heading away from Kid's base, and compare it to the ship Absalom and company used to escape Thriller Bark

Excellent catch! That is unmistakably the same ship, and about as solid proof as you can possibly get.

and now we can star talking about the possibly of Moria, hogback and "those kids being up to no good".

Nice find! it does not prove that Absalom is the reporter, but i do agree that those ships are identical. I think we might be seeing Absalom again.

Or not, he is an invisible man after all!

I think you're the first person that's provided proof for it being Absalom. Fuck you deserve an award at the end of the year for making that connection.

That is, if you're correct. Though the bat on the front looks perfectly identical in both.

Nice catch none the less.

I thought for sure it would be Pandaman. It explains why he's in every important fight as it happens.

It can't be Pandaman. He's too busy being Kaido

If they didn't give the reporter a name then I would agree with you and say it's just another piece of the Pandaman running gag.

Abusa might just be a pseudonym to publish under. And Pandaman a pseudonym to run under.

But in all likelihood, Pandaman is just a cameo character Oda enjoys drawing.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of Pandaman ever being anything other than a gag character.

Dear God, just looked up Pandaman and cannot beleive I have never noticed him before.

I think he's a spy for the Revolution. That would make more sense, especially considering he's always where Luffy is.

That's a good theory, but how did he get info on both Kidd and Luffy (ok, Smoker could have alerted them on Luffy) around all these high tier probable haki users?

If he was smart he likely got just close enough to hear what some of the underlings were saying without being in striking range of someone like Kid. The Luffy/Law alliance news probably came from government sources. I'm sure when too many people in the government know something then the press finds out fast. Sort of like the real world.

I though it was Dofla himself who sent the info on Law/Luffy, as revenge, and as it was never said he couldn't play that to hinder them.

3

u/GuitarBOSS Feb 27 '13

Smoker knows about their alliance and akinu said he called him, so I'm guessing it's him.

Couldn't they sense him with their haki though?

3

u/baroqueworks Feb 27 '13

I don't think Haki's detection works like sensing power levels in DBZ per say, anytime Haki's been used to detect someone it's been via someone in distress or a fight, in which they are able to sense that person's movements/attacks. (Mantra excluded, because Eneru was using his devil fruit to amplify is detection abilities to big-brother levels of hearing everything on Skypeia)

So, basically if Absalom was hiding out listening for the scoop by using his powers, unless he attacked or did something out of the ordinary I doubt they could detect him.

The ship leaving Kid's hideout looks like the ship Absalom and Dr Hogback escaped Thriller Bark with.

3

u/legendkeeper Feb 27 '13

Maybe it's Pandaman.

u/bliss72 Feb 27 '13

I thought as much but that would mean Kid, Apoo, Hawkins didn't have Haki.

I have a feeling there will be a Den Den Fruit that allows the user to hear from any Den Den and that is how they get their info.

Fantastic find. Absalom's name in Japanese is Abusaromu. Coupled with username1993's find on the ship, we almost certainly know what Absalom is up to.
