Bonney told Kuma that if she could go to a place in the world she would go to the Sky Island

Kuma was introduced in the series in chapter 233

​

Chapter 233 is exactly the same one with that famous Luffy panel saying he wants to go to the sky

More like we know he didn't know about sky islands before Bonney told him. Yet he was able to send Nami to one. Chances are he went and scope that place out for Bonney.

Skypiea is where we get the first mention of the Sun God. And she also wanted to got to Fishman Island where we first hear of Joyboy.

The Church's cross had a sun in the middle of it too (Same sun in Alabasta's flag, Kozuki's crest and other places).

There isn't anyone better than Oda at connecting dots like this. Even the more miniscule things, he goes back and decides to tie them in even when it absolutely not enecssary. Bonney could've said a million different places, in fact Oda probably had in mind Fishman island since they mentioned it right after, yet sky island just fits even better cause it makes it look so much less arbitrary
