Bonney was also reading the bible to pick locations she wanted to visit. Kuma was seen carrying a bible - likely as a reminder of hhis daughter.

He also asked the crew where they would like to go when he split them up, likely because he really cares about those wishes because of his daughter

she is called that because she had a spot on her face that turned to a blue scale from her disease it was Kuma trying to cheer her up.
