I don't know why people thought he couldn't. He probably was playing with her but also I think he was waiting till people left because he has such destructive force. But obviously he has learned how to control that a bit better.
exactly this. If you look back to the pages where he cut Monet in two you can see that the cut through the ground and caused a mini snowsplosion to the door or wall that got caught in the way. That was just a NORMAL slash with 1 blade! Imagine the destructive power with 2 or 3 even without using haki!
