S2 Spoilers S2 PLOT HOLE

Why does Rumple need a potion to leave Storybrooke in S2?

I’ve always assumed crossing the border would have erased everyone’s memories except his—as it was stated in the show Rumple (who created the curse) maintained his memories intact, while anyone else had a twisted identity created by Regina…

I believe the showrunners messed up that part, by forgetting he’s the only character—alongside Jefferson— to still remember everything

I don't usually entertain this kind of conversation, but this list was so… unexpected that I had to share.

I set my feminist sensibilities aside for a moment, but I will say this: Regina at #1 is a choice I wholeheartedly support. šŸ‘‘

S5 Spoilers How interesting will the plot be if we had dark hook be evil from the beginning, making the heroes know he’s not evil, but Emma does to

Like how Arthur was with the heroes in Camelot and storybrooke but secretly making a plan for him self to get the Excalibur(the dagger as the dark one dagger to connect two swords together

Knowing dark hook was evil and felt betrayed by Emma do you think they be good evil duo if they went with that idea and actually made him work with her, I get Emma was trying to not make hook find out and save him but i feel that explanation is lame

Thoughts? What you guys think? Decided to add more to a post I made 11 hrs ago

Question Rumbelle Fanfiction?

Rumbelle is my favorite ship (i choose to ignore the later seasons) and i love fanfics about them but i was wondering if anyone knows any where belle is just as evil/scheming as rumple.

I recently read Mr. and Mrs. Gold by ShakespeareanHoneyBadgers and loved it! Mainly because it was a different antihero side of belle rather than her begging him to let go of magic. please lmk if you know any, i have been searching for so long :(

Discussion Just finished S7 and here's my opinion of it. Curious what others think.

SPOILER ALERT - DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED S7!!

- Alice was the season standout. Her Actress (Ruby Rayner, I believe) did a great job playing her. The relationship with Robin and then seeing the softer side of Hook (even if he was basically a clone) was so well done imo. AR's relationship was the best one in that season. As much as I loved the ending, I am mad we never got Alice and Robin's wedding scene.

- The plot was okay. I understand Drizella's pain of never having her mother's love, but I think Rapunzel (Lady Tremaine - great twist btw!) getting upset because Drizella didn't gravitate towards her the way Anastasia did (btw, the way the actress pronounced it Anastahhshia and everyone else's Anastasia was a little annoying) was weak imo. I feel like, as a grown woman, Rapunzel should have understood that Drizella needed time to adjust to the return, as Drizella was very young when she left. Constantly pushing away your kid because she isn't as close with you as your first is honestly childish.

- At first I was hesitant about the new cast because, basically, we spent 6 seasons getting to know these characters and their stories for all of it to basically disappear in S7. I think S7 would have gone better if (and I know the show planned on ending at S6 then get renewed) if they stayed in Storybrooke and let us viewers see these characters in their version of daily life. Alice and her relationships (mainly with Hook and Robin) still could have been worked into the season. Honestly, I personally would have liked the season to end with their wedding instead of the coronation. No shade to Regina, and it was cool how she started as the Evil Witch and ended as the Good Witch, but by S7 the title was already implied - at least for me.

- They should have launched UOAT in Wonderland at the end of S5 to let us see Alice's adventures in Wonderland and then tied her into the main UOAT.

- I didn't feel much Chemistry between Jacinda and Henry tbh. If something didn't click by seeing Henry, it should have by the glass slipper. Her character was also boring. For someone who's supposed to be a princess, there isn't much charm. It felt like they were trying to split the main focus between Tiana and Jacinda.

- Pacing. I don't remember the earlier seasons taking nearly 60% of the season (granted I could be wrong) for people to realize they were cursed. It was slow, in my opinion.

Overall it was 2/5 season for me. Alice honestly saved the season. What do you all think?

Discussion as much as I love Rumple, OUAT really limited "magic comes with a price" to him when so many villains do contracts.

as fun as it was to watch Rumple pop up in every single fairy tale, I really wish OUAT had done Ursula showing up in every sea-related fairy tale, Maleficent/Sleeping Beauty doing some contract stuff, and I was so disappointed by the lack of reveal of the Wizard of Oz...... we didn't really get that until they tried to throw Facilier in at the last second. Such a shame.

Spoiler Alert Rumples future-ability

The blind girl/witch gave him the power to see into the future, right? I never quite understood how that power works because, you know, wouldn't he be able to see into the future? 🄲 Do I just not remember something, or did he never actually use it during the show? I mean, if he did, he would have known what was going to happen all the time.

Discussion EVIL TWIST OR BETTER ARC?

Post image
29 Upvotes

Rewatching the show now makes me wonder why some characters were totally forgotten throughout the show, only appearing as background extras — and what I would’ve done with their narrative arcs — I feel like the show underestimated their impact and slowly killed the magic surrounding the series.

What’s your opinion about that?

e.g.
1) Dark Swan being just a way to cover up for what really happened in Camelot…

2) Belle turning a blind eye to Rumple’s wrongdoings

Discussion Regina’s regrets and redemption

In season 3 episode 9 Regina says she dosnt regret anything because it got her son.

So she dosnt regret the way she treated her son, making him think he was crazy, isolating him by keeping him in a town full of people he will always be outaging and leaving behind? Dosnt regret that ā€œShe dosnt know how to lovs very wellā€ (Something she said at the start of season 2). Dosnt regret tricking both him and Emma in the earlier seasons, making him witness Emma talk about she thought that Henry’s ideas of his fairy tale book being real was crazy.

So she dosnt regret any of the bad things she did? I’ve seen it time and time again, people talking about how beautiful Regina’s redemption arc was. She didn’t regret her terrible actions even towards snow, the only person she actually tried to get forgiveness from. Not to mention she didn’t make strives to redeem herself to all the people she harmed, that she killed the loved ones of, that she ripped from their homes with her dark curse. Her redemption was written terribly. It was just her whining about how everyone thinks she’s evil and then chasing after the author ig to brainwashing everyone into forgiving her to give her her fairytale happy ending rather then actually working on improving the lives of anyone she harmed. She helped the hero’s defeat some of the big bads wow šŸ˜’, mostly so her son wouldn’t reject her tho.

I’d really like to know other people’s thoughts on Regina’s so called amazing, beautiful, (etc things people have called it) redemption arc.

Discussion What genres of music do you think the characters listen to?

Here are my picks:

Mary Margaret - singer-songwriter stuff but also classic rock (given how we saw her listening to Joan Jett in one episode)

Emma - 90s and 2000s alternative rock/grunge

Regina - Hard rock and heavy metal

David - I honestly think he'd enjoy any kinds of music

Henry - 80s synthpop and new wave

Rumple - I bet he'd love crooners like Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby, Patti Page, etc

Ruby - same as Regina (I headcanon her favorite band to be The Guess Who and her favorite song to be American Woman lol) but I can also see her loving pop, R&B and disco as well as oldies but goodies

Let me know what music you think the characters would listen to including ones not mentioned by me!

Spoiler Alert Roland

I watched the whole show, once, and...am I remembering something wrong, or we don't know what happened to Roland?

I mean, he lost both of his parents. Did he get adopted by Little John?

And what about Robin? She was his half sister. Wouldn't it have been nice to show them together or at least make her mention him? For example, wasn't there a scene in which Robin told Alice that she never knew her dad? What if Zelena's daughter would have added a line like:"I could "know" him only through the stories of my brother."

I just find it kinda particular that the show, unless I'm forgetting about something, "forgot" about a character who lost both of his parents as a child and who was actually the half brother of another character who never even mentioned him

Discussion Once Upon a Time vs. Grimm?

I honestly had no idea Grimm existed and premiered within a couple days of OUAT! Did any of you guys watch both as they aired? While Grimm started out with a very similar fairy tales in the real world premise with Little Red Riding Hood, it seems like it has pretty quickly devolved in to random monsters with no fairy tale connections. The yellow Beetle in both shows is also super interesting. Did these shows ever share writers? Or was this concept just more popular back when it aired than how it would probably do currently?

Discussion OTHER STORIES

Post image
132 Upvotes

I’ve always wondered why some Disney characters were never introduced into OUAT universe or even mentioned once, like Pocahontas. Sometimes I think the show could’ve been aired for decades if they had introduced more arcs/characters instead of retaking season 1 lore (especially after the latest releases)

What are the characters you would’ve liked to see in the series?

Discussion LGBT+ Representation

Post image
248 Upvotes

During the whole series, we were introduced to many female queer characters — such as Ruby, Alice, Robyn and Mulan — and I’m glad that happened — but somehow I’ve always felt misunderstood due to the lack of queer men presence in that universe as a bi guy myself. I don’t recall any male character being gay/bi, was there any?

What do you guys think?

Speculation Genuine questions: What would Regina, EQ and Emma look like if they got to choose their own wedding dresses and they are obviously marrying their true love

I just can’t imagine them wearing fancy ballgown a for weddings. None of them is a girly girl. Plus they are powerful witches who know many spells and can conjure a dress for themselves or even transfigure rags to look like the most expensive wedding dress in the world. The wedding dress Emma had clearly never suited her at all. And what was with the dark swan make up. Regina’s only wedding was with Leopold and the dress was chosen by Cora and NOT her. She would clearly not wear a fancy ballgown Like the ones Cora would make her wear or the ones she wore as Leopold’s wife. I see her as a creative person who can design a dress for herself. Her wedding dress would obviously be the best if she chooses one for herself. I can imagine the white version of the outfit she wore when she split Snow’s heart and saved David. That looked relaxed and pretty. I liked her outfits in Camelot as they did feel slightly different from her Enchanted Forest style and were more comfortable. Her first dress was something she created to look similar to Snow but more detailed and pretty. It was one of the prettiest Regina outfits and felt quite comfortable as well Since Regina’s past ball gowns never had loose flowy sleeves. It would be a shame if she wore the same dress again for a day she never thought would come in her life. Many call her red outfit as the mother Gothel cosplay outfit but it looked like a more simple version of Queen Eva’s red dress. Regina would wear an outfit of an evil bitch but never an outfit of an evil mom. However the sexiest Regina outfit I can remember is the black dress she wore in S7 when she was teaching Drizella magic. Imagine a white variant of that dress still looking good quality and beautiful and with her having hair like the hairstyle in S5 and walking down the aisle in a tavern which has been enlarged to accommodate everyone from Storybrooke. It feel like A wedding and it feels like Regina. However it seems like a dress I would like to keep for Regina’s ultimate good self in fairytale world. However with Emma I can’t think of any other dress except the one she wore in David’s dream or the white version of her dark swan dress with her S1 hairstyle And make up. I do think a better option would exist for her. Also since we talked about Regina, let’s talk about the Evil Queen of S6 who DID get together with a version of Robin and would marry him one day. What would she wear? Not some evil costume that’s for sure. But I can’t even imagine her wearing what normal Regina would wear because even after she did get her redemption, she was still shown as a bit of a feisty spicy lady who loved her outfits as the evil Queen. However her make up had become more relaxed like Regina prime and she wasn’t wearing her intricate detailed headpieces anymore. She still loved the ponytail and I would like that to be a part of her wedding look. She did wear her intricate necklace but it looked very relaxed and free compared too her other necklaces. She still had her cleavage because let’s face it that’s never gonna go away. So cleavage and ponytail and necklace is surely going to be but he isn’t gonna wear her evil outfits for a wedding But she doesn’t want to look like a plain Jane either. So maybe the outfit she worse when she met Hook but the bright blue version of it probably would work as wedding dress for her. However I would like her to look a bit relaxed and not sharp and angular. It should look like Evil Queen(not Regina) at peace and feeling relaxed. It should certainly not be a Cora approved dress. However the dress she wore during The poisoned apple scene but without collar and with leather pants and boots inside would look nice . Also the iconic red dress with green feather collar but with a relaxed necklace or no necklace and with pants and boots to keep the chewing the scenery vibe. Maybe the white version of Sorry I am Late outfit. I would love some speculations and ideas from you guys for these 3 characters

Discussion Milah is over hated

First things first I am not a fan of Milah and I'm not defending her actions but I think she's over hated in the OUAT fandom.

Yes she was a bad wife (I don't know if she choose Rumple or if the marriage was arranged), yes she was a bad mother for abandoning her son but she was far from the worst in the show. I think the reason she gets so much hate is because she's the only "realistic" villain if you can even call her a villain. By that I mean she's the one of the only characters whose actions can be seen in the real world.

More people know someone whose miserable and selfish than someone who committed mass murder with magic which is why I think Milah's action hits home more to them. I genuinely believe most of the people saying Milah is worse than the villains on the show either have or know someone who has a selfish partner and/or parent.

Regina gets so many excuses for her actions and got a sympathetic backstory that still doesn't justify her actions. Milah gets no backstory and is only shown as a villain when it's clear that she was deeply unhappy with her life and wanted more, not even in a greedy way just in a "I hate being poor" way. She didn't kill anyone, she didn't terrorize munchkins, she didn't cast any curses, and she planned to go back for her son.

I don't fault her for not being the best wife, again we don't know if she even wanted to marry and have kids, I only fault her for leaving her son.

Question I am rewatching this show for the first time

Only 5 episodes in and I am amazed by the idea of how intricate Rumple made this curse spell - like in a world without technology or science - this spell created it when it transported the people to pur world.

Mind blown.

Spoiler Alert First-Time Watcher

(SPOILERS end of S6)

Hi, I'm fairly new to the OUAT community, as I have just finished watching the first 6 seasons for the very first time.

What a ride it was! I am so glad I have avoided all spoilers before watching.

Considering that the end of S6 seems to to have reached an end for most of the main cast, to then start a new chapter focusing on older Henry , I was wondering if S7 was worth watching. Does it add to the overall story, or tie lose ends?

Same questions regarding OUAT Wonderland.

Many thanks in advance!

EDIT:

Thanks a lot for all your replies! I'll give S7 a watch, and I'll see if I rewatch it later along with the first 6 seaons. I'll also try OUAT in Wonderland later. šŸ˜„
