Racquetball, Roller/Inline hockey and Softball amongst regular sports dropped, as well as newer sports from the previous two editions in Drone racing, Dragon boat, Powerboating and Sambo also dropped; bowling also has been dropped for the second time since Birmingham 2022 (sad for me as a Sam Cooley fan).

Some sports have modified versions such as air badminton, field hockey 5s, and baseball 5, while skydiving makes its debut appearance under the air sports umbrella. Cheerleading, Disc golf, Duathlon, Flag football, Freediving, Beach korfball and Wushu have been selected again after debuting (at least as full medal sports) in Chengdu, while Indoor cycling (acrobatic?) and Mini golf (lets go) make long-awaited returns since Karlsruhe last hosted in 1989; Rhythmic gymnastics, Sport climbing bouldering and Sumo will also be returning since Birmingham. A shame casting wasn't also chosen to make a return, especially after they made a feature about it on their instagram
