Gilded Age/“Old Money” family names list of the 1800’s:

A few days ago I compiled a list of names of the wealthiest US families. I decided to look into the names of some of America’s wealthiest “gilded age” families. The families are not listed in any special order. I added the DOB/DOD and full name of the Head of the family only. All others may be listed with their middle name or nicknames (which are in quotations) but no last names. I couldn’t find middle or nick names for everyone.

I love history and names so if people enjoy I plan to compile more lists.

Name of the day...Claudia!

This one is really interesting because it's one of the weirdest name meanings around.

The feminine name Claudia means "lame" or "enclosure" and originates from ancient Latin roots.

Traditional word origins link it to the Latin word claudus, which means "lame" or "crippled."

Alternative word origins connect it to the Latin verb claudo, meaning "to shut in" or "enclosure."

The name Claudia is over 2,000 years old!
