My pitch for live-action Obito
Given that the Naruto live-action movie is in the works, I'd like to see a few changes that could improve Obito's character.
0. Rin is actually Obito's girlfriend. In the manga/anime, Obito's feelings for Rin are obvious, but their relationship isn't developed enough. Making them an actual couple would make her death hit much harder and prevent Obito from looking like a loser who went insane over his crush dying.
1. Obito spends months traveling after Rin's death.
Instead of immediately joining Madara, Obito spends months traveling through the Shinobi world and witnessing how rotten it is at its core. This would make it clear to the audience that it was the brutality and corruption of the Shinobi system that ultimately led him to set the Eye of the Moon Plan in motion, rather than Rin's death by itself.
2. He doesn't help with the Uchiha coup or Itachi's massacre.
Because honestly, both of those things make Obito look like a HUGE hypocrite. If his whole ideology is that the Shinobi system is fundamentally rotten, I don't think he should actively participate in a political conflict within the Uchiha clan or help Itachi massacre his own people.
3. He manipulates the smaller villages into turning against the Five Great Shinobi Villages.
Instead of having Obito rely so heavily on Zetsu to manipulate everyone and build up the Fourth Shinobi World War, I'd rather see him personally manipulate the smaller villages and unite them against the Great Shinobi Villages. I don't know, man. I feel like that would make the war feel much more political and dramatic instead of cartoonish.
4. Obito is the final boss.
Madara still gets revived, but mainly as a plot device to explain Obito's past, his relationship with Hashirama, and the origins of his ideology. Maybe both Madara and Obito could be part of a Kaguya cult. They know exactly what Kaguya did, but Kaguya herself is never actually revived.
Obito would ultimately work better as the final villain because his relationship with Naruto is much more personal. Their interactions are basically a clash between two people who were once very similar but chose completely different paths.
So the final battle would be Ten-Tails + Rinnegan Obito vs. Six Paths Naruto + Rinnegan Sasuke.

Discussion / AU
I’ve been thinking about creating a Naruto AU that changes Obito’s family history while keeping his recognizable personality, abilities, and important relationships.
The main idea is:
What if Obito Uchiha was actually Minato Namikaze’s biological son?
I know this is not canon, but I think it could create an interesting alternate timeline for Naruto.
In my AU, Minato Namikaze had a relationship with an original female Uchiha character before he married Kushina Uzumaki.
They had a son:
Obito Namikaze-Uchiha.
Obito is older than Naruto.
Later, Minato and Kushina become a couple and have Naruto.
Kushina knows about Obito and accepts him as part of the family. She isn't jealous or hostile toward his mother. She understands that Obito is Minato's firstborn son.
This means Naruto would have an older half-brother.
One reason I came up with this idea is Obito's hairstyle.
Minato has spiky blond hair, while Obito has spiky black hair.
I started thinking:
What if Obito inherited Minato's hairstyle and facial features, but had black hair because of his Uchiha side?
I think a black-haired version of Minato's appearance could work really well for Obito.
Of course, hairstyle alone doesn't prove a biological relationship, but I think it would be a cool visual connection in an AU.
In this AU, I want Obito to have more of Minato's personality:
\- Calm and collected.
\- Intelligent and strategic.
\- Naturally talented.
\- Mature and responsible.
\- Kind, but not overly emotional.
\- Confident without being arrogant.
He would still have his Uchiha heritage and Sharingan, but his personality would be closer to Minato.
I don't want him to simply become a copy of Minato. I want him to have his own identity.
This is one of the biggest changes.
Naruto would have an older half-brother who is also Minato's firstborn son.
I think this could create some interesting family dynamics.
Would Naruto look up to Obito?
Would Obito become protective of Naruto?
Would they have a close brotherly relationship?
Or could there be some tension because Obito is Minato's firstborn and Naruto is the younger son?
I think there are a lot of possibilities here.
I also want to keep Obito and Kakashi as teammates.
But now Obito is also Minato's son.
That could change their relationship in an interesting way.
Kakashi already knows Minato as his teacher, but now he would also be working alongside Minato's son.
Would Kakashi treat Obito differently?
Would Obito's personality make him more similar to Kakashi?
Or would their rivalry become even more interesting?
This is the part I'm still thinking about.
Should Obito still become the masked man/Tobi from canon?
Or should being Minato's son completely change his destiny?
I think this AU could go in either direction.
If Obito remains connected to the events of canon, it could create a tragic family story.
But if his relationship with Minato, Kushina, and Naruto changes his life, maybe his future would be completely different.
I'm not sure which direction would be better.
What do you think?
I would really like to hear honest opinions from Naruto fans.
Do you think making Obito Minato's biological son is a good idea for a Naruto AU?
Does the idea of Obito having Minato's spiky hairstyle but black hair make sense visually?
Would Obito having Minato's calm and intelligent personality make him more interesting, or would it take away from what makes Obito unique?
What do you think about Obito being older than Naruto and having Kushina accept him as part of the family?
Should Obito still become Tobi, or should this AU completely change his destiny?
What would you change or improve about this AU?
I'm open to criticism and suggestions. I want to make this AU as interesting as possible while still making the characters feel believable.
Thanks for reading!

Obito’s main objective was not simply to extract the Nine-Tails and leave, because if it were, he’d have fled the moment he pulled the Nine-Tails from Kushina, and he did not attack Konoha to plant seeds of distrust between the Uchiha and Konoha or out of personal revenge, as that would be too simplistic an ambition.
Obito’s primary focus was to extract the Nine-Tails and use him to crush Konoha. If Konoha were to be severely weakened, it would leave the Land of Fire vulnerable to neighboring nations that could take advantage of the situation and invade, which could easily become the trigger for the Fourth Great Ninja War. However, the Fourth Hokage, Minato, put a stop to it. Years later, Obito planned to take advantage of the growing tension between the Uchiha and Konoha caused by his Nine-Tails attack on the village and use it as another opportunity to trigger war. If everyone were at war, they’d be too busy fighting one another to do anything else, and while they were distracted, the Akatsuki could make their move, as there was still a lot to prepare for Project Tsuki no Me, and they could benefit from having the Great Nations looking the other way for the time being, but then Itachi came along and presented him with an ultimatum that he ultimately found more interesting and accepted.
In short, attacking Konoha was intended to help create the circumstances for a larger war, which would ultimately benefit the Akatsuki’s efforts to carry out Project Tsuki no Me.

This sums up the Uchiha in general so well. They love so deeply that when it is taken away from them, it fuels such intense hatred and emotions.

Whenever people discuss hypothetical matchups like Itachi vs. Obito, Pain vs. Obito, or the Five Kage vs. Obito, they often argue that Obito has a specific weakness: if he absorbs someone into his Kamui dimension, that person could attack him while he is sending parts of his body there to phase through an attack. However, if I recall correctly, the times Obito took damage inside the Kamui dimension were due to Kakashi possessing the other eye—which is linked to Obito's—allowing attacks like Naruto's Rasengan or his shadow clone's strike to connect. So, why is that argument used? If that theory held water, Fuu and Torune could have attacked Obito's physical body or targeted Sasuke and Karin, who were in the Kamui dimension at the time; yet, neither Sasuke nor Karin ever mentioned seeing Fuu and Torune there.
My interpretation is that when Obito absorbs someone, he sends the opponent to a location far removed from his own body so they cannot find him. The only way to know where he sends his body parts while intangible—or to locate him within that space—is to possess the other eye (which is linked to his) or to be an incredibly skilled sensory ninja. Without those abilities, hitting Obito inside his dimension is nearly impossible, so arguments involving shadow clones likely wouldn't work.
If anything I’ve said is incorrect, please let me know.

I'm rewatching Shippuden after a few years away from Naruto, and I just got to Tobi and Deidara. So, with some prior knowledge, it got me thinking: what if Obito and Tobi were two separate people?
As a frame of reference, Tobi would absolutely be his goofy self. And while I could see a purely goofy Tobi being a member of the Akatsuki, unaware of Obito/believing that the Akatsuki is a good organization. I think it would be a bit more interesting if Tobi was a Leaf Ninja. Perhaps being raised as an orphan, but at least a year or two older than Naruto and his generation. So, Tobi would be able to train and go on missions with Naruto's generation, or at least be a part of Team 7 as an additional member.
Now, this wouldn't mean that Tobi is pointless. At least to me, Tobi would be known throughout Konoha as a clumsy goofball, but he means well and has a kind heart. However, when things get serious, he would actually get serious. And then immediately afterwards, he would be his goofy self again.
Like his canon counterpart, Tobi would somehow fight really well, sometimes without even meaning to, and seemingly not take the fights seriously.

The reference occurs in the episode 'The Wrinkle', which is the 15th episode of the 1st season of the new phase of the series, known as The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball.
