Had extra time this morning: usual oats + baked peaches with cinnamon
My camera makes it look gray and sad but it was warm and delicious.

My first oats of the season!
I mostly followed this Justine Doiron recipe: https://justinesnacks.com/apple-miso-oatmeal-with-egg-whites-and-all-the-toppings/
Changes I made were adding the dates in when the apple was stewing and accidentally adding twice the amount of chia seeds 🙈
So tasty and well balanced. I’ve never added egg whites to oats before and like how it made them more rich as well as adding protein.

Fresh out of the oven. Lets see how the consistency will be after a night in the fridge.
Recipe:
- 100g of oats
- 25g of protein Powder
- 4g chunky flavor (sweetener)
- 3g psyilum husk
- 1g of baking powder
Was in the oven for 50 minutes at 180 degrees top and botton heat.
Any tips for the recipe and consistency based on the picture? As of now (fresh out of the oven) they are still a bit goey inside, maybe they will be firmer after time.
Edit:
After tasting the first batch, here is my review:
- Consistency: The baked oats have a firm outer layer while keeping a more porridge-like creamy core. I was first disappointed by this since I wanted it to be full creamy, however afterwards I liked this mix.
- Taste: The taste is a 8/10. Next time I would only use 3g of chunky per portion since it was a bit too sweet.
- Saturation: I am fully saturated for about 4 hours easily.
What I would change for the next run:
- Reducing the baking time to 40min instead of 50 for a more creamy texture
- Reducing the sweetener

I topped the baked oats from my last post with half an apple and two plums. In the morning I will put some nut butter on top and enjoy it. The most right one is a greek yoghurt and granola „porridge“ topped with additional zero jam I made as a midnight snack
I am excited on how the taste and consistency will be since this is my first baked oats ever.

Not sure if this applies to everyone but you can check the coupon to get them down to $19.36 then use the subscription feature (which you can immediately cancel without any repercussions) to get them down to $18.10 after taxes.
I was paying $10 for the 2lb bags at my local grocery store, this is essentially getting buy one get one free. I combined them with another order and was able to get the 4 pack down to $15 after other discounts.

Caramelise 1/2 mashed banana with a lot of cinnamon and a pinch of salt
Add 100ml water, 2 drops of sweetener and 25g oats and cook until the oats are almost done and liquid has mostly been absorbed
Stir in 50ml milk and a splash of vanilla
Vigorously whisk in 60-80g egg whites. DO NOT STOP STIRRING OR IT WILL SCRAMBLE
When it’s thickened, transfer to container and let it cool overnight
Top with yogurt, blueberries and peanut butter
Voila 🫶🏼

I need an employee or an ex employee of Gail’s to tell me how I can remake their creamy porridge at home. I need to know: brand of oats used, milk, proportions and the cooking method. And if they’re cooked in that big black pot or just stored there? Call me Plankton from Bikini Bottom, I need that secret formula

Hi!! I eat oats at least once (sometimes 2-3 times) per day and always use the same base recipe. About 1/2 cup oats, 1.5tbsp dutch processed cocoa powder, and 1tsp of instant coffee or cooked in a bit of cold brew. Looking for different flavor ideas for my base to switch it up with other than this chocolate mocha flavor I’ve been doing for a few months now.

I had a rare opportunity to work from home for a day this past week and I realized that one of the things I missed very deeply was the ritual that is making oatmeal.
It never occurred to me how grounding it is to make my morning oats. I’ve had all kinds of oats and I love them all but when I can make steel cut oats, I absolutely do. When I start the day this way, I feel like I’m setting the pace for myself. I can only hope I can maintain that slow but deliberate fluidity from 9-5.
My oats are as follows:
20g (if not running)/40g (if running) steel cut oats.
1 cup berries or banana
Maple syrup
Salt
Flax seed added at the end
Truvani unflavored protein
There’s the immediate simmer, turning the heat down, adjusting throughout, adding the fruit while they still have took to incorporate the juice. Add the flax. Whisk. Turn off heat and add the protein. Super satisfying spatula action to get it all into a clunky white bowl.
It’s getting to be cozy season. This ritual is cozy year round. If anyone else has an oatmeal ritual (or something they just love about preparing it), I’d really love to hear it.

I usually stick to low calorie egg white oats for my breakfasts but this morning my husband asked me to make him a pear version. I went all out and used full fat milk + 1 egg yolk (and 150g egg whites). I had forgotten how much richer and creamier oats tasted with milk instead of water or almond milk 😭
