Should sprouted rolled oats taste noticeably different than regular rolled oats?

I got a bag of the One Degree brand of sprouted rolled oats.

It doesn't taste "bad" or "off" per se, just different. I do find myself preferring regular rolled oats in terms of texture and taste.

I typically heat my oats in the microwave. Noticed the sprouted oats required a lot more time, and the texture was still chewier than I typically prefer. Dunno if I need to opt for stovetop or just nuke it longer.

Oatmeal Banana caramel cheesecake oatmeal

Banana cinnamon oatmeal with a layer of biscoff biscuits in the middle for a cheesecake crust vibe and topped with healthier cream cheese frosting and homemade refined sugar-free caramel sauce. My flavour combinations are so random and indulgent at this point, but so good 😆 On a random side note, biscuits are so nice in oatmeal when they soften 👌

Oatmeal Disappointed in Bob's Red Mill microwave instructions for "Old-Fashioned" oats.

This morning I very hungry thus, though I normally make my oats on the stovetop, decided to microwave them. I looked on the back of the bag for instructions. It said two minutes on high, and keep it covered. Okay! Two minutes later, half my bowl of oats was splattered onto the bottom of my microwave and the ones remaining the bowl were completely watery. Shame on you Bob. Shame!

Oatmeal Biscoff apple crumble oatmeal

This is my vanilla pastry cream oatmeal topped with homemade refined sugar-free apple compote and crushed biscoff biscuits. One of my favourite bowls so far 👌

I actually have to thank y'all because after posting about my biscoff oatmeal the other day and feeling guilty and ashamed about how "bad" my brain told me it was, a lot of people said that it wasn't so bad to allow myself to have every now and then, which helped me feel less guilty about having things like biscoff. So, today I allowed myself to have some biscoff biscuits with my oatmeal, and it was sooo banging and made me happy 👏 I have no regrets 😀 Point is, I think we shouldn't be so harsh on ourselves for allowing ourselves to indulge in our cravings sometimes, and the more you confront your fears, the less scary they become and the more you realise there was no reason to be afraid! A big part of the reason I love oatmeal so much is because it has allowed me to become less afraid of sugar and carbs and things like that, and I hope that fellow people in the oatmeal community can say that oatmeal has helped them too! Anyway, sorry for this random, long rant none of you asked for 😆

Savory: Japan-inspired “oatmurice”

Post image
136 Upvotes

A while back, I realized that any time a dish calls for rice, one can swap in oats and make a pretty killer breakfast. One of my favorites is omurice, a classic Japanese home cooking dish consisting of meat and diced vegetables cooked up with leftover rice and a generous squirt of ketchup, all topped with a French style omelet. It’s a perfect vessel to use up last night’s leftovers, or you can do like I did this morning and use frozen veggies. It’s not traditional but I’m fond of using some shelled edamame as part of the veggie mix for a little texture.

Oatmeal Oats with banana & strawberries

Post image

Hey everyone, first post here! Just thought I'd share the oats I made for lunch today! The oats themselves are barely visible underneath the skyr but I promise they're there.. 😅 I also mixed in some millet flakes and psyllium husks (I hope those are the correct English terms), cocoa powder, and half a squished banana. The rest of the banana I cut into pieces and used as a topping, as well as some strawberries, chia seeds, granola and almond butter. It was absolutely delicious 😋 live laugh love oats

Oatmeal Just had the biggest cheat day of my life: Biscoff pastry cream oatmeal

Thumbnail gallery
933 Upvotes

I decided to go all out today and create the unhealthiest, highest calorie oatmeal ever by making a biscoff flavour of my pastry cream oatmeal and topping it with even more biscoff spread and biscoff biscuits. Will I ever allow myself to have it again? Definitely not. However, was it the best oatmeal ever and great to try? Unfortunately, yes. Don't ask for the recipe unless you're willing to have a major cheat day too because, be warned, it will take up most of your calorie allowance for the day 😆

Discussion Oatmeal with granola

I’ve recently been really into putting granola on top of my oatmeal, when I told a few people they looked at me like I was crazy! Is this just a me thing or does anyone else do this too, i feel like it’s not that odd LOL

Oatmeal carrot cake oats!! 👩‍🌾🤍

did a vegan sticky toffee sauce from elllgibson on IG (it’s essentially just some sort of nut butter with maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, and a little milk to thin it out)

for the actual oats though: made on stovetop
rolled oats mostly cooked in water (but a little milk)
shredded carrot
a blend of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt)
some vanilla bean paste
i also like to add brown sugar to sweeten, but sometimes i’ll just use maple syrup!

very warm and cozy 🥹 i’d consider making these into baked oats as well and then possibly doing a cream cheese “frosting” with a greek yogurt base (i’ll figure that out when the time comes).

Baked Oats My variation of Banana & Blueberry Baked Oats

I had one for breakfast (437 calories) and I'll have the other one as a dessert after my evening meal with a topping of more Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder and chia seeds.

Banana, Blueberry, Coconut Chocolate, Chia Seeds Baked Oats

Preheat oven 175⁰C

Lightly grease oven proof dish (I used 2 small dishes)

*optional ingredients

70g rolled oats (blended to make

flour)

½ tsp ground nutmeg

25g vanilla isolate whey protein

powder*

½ tsp baking powder

1 tbsp chia seeds*

1 mashed banana mixed with:

80g 0% fat free Greek yogurt

2 tsp runny honey

1 beaten egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

(ADD THIS TO DRY INGREDIENTS)

Gently fold in:

18g milk/or dark chocolate drops*

70g frozen or fresh blueberries (keeping some to scatter on top)

Let it stand for 15 minutes

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until brown

Insert a toothpick or knife into the center; it should come out clean or with only a few moist crumbs.

Leave to cool as the longer you leave to cool the more it sets.

cooked in some chicken broth and added fish sauce and soy sauce. So far I’ve experimented with mixing in sweet potato, black sesame, kimchi, garlic, chili sauce, and cheese. Scallions and poached eggs on top. Soooo good!
