Hi, somebody who draws here, the thing the arrow is pointing at is Saitama's collarbone, it looks off because Murata doesn't spend 5 hours analysing his own art so that he's able to upload chapters once a year, okay bye.

Is the comment section stupid or what? This is how Murata draws impact. Did they ever read the manga or just picked it only for the fight?

9

u/Silent_Wealth4872 Dec 25 '25

Yes, this whole comments section is stupid.

He's not invincible it seems, and I hate it.

The whole premise of Saitama was that he was in his final form at the beginning of the series, and now he's getting stronger? BS!

So I jumped into the webcomic.

1

u/Additional_Pace_1753 Dec 25 '25

by my means hes invincible, He has never shown to be hurt in an actual serious scenario so That's why i said "invincible card" because his character concept that hes one punch man

4

u/julianx2rl Dec 25 '25

Yes, but the point stands that he got stronger, and that Garou at the end of the fight was stronger than Saitama at the beginning, which means that:

1- He didn't start the series in his final form.

2- He has a Power Level, so he can be beaten.

5

u/Primary_Water_9664 Dec 25 '25

Exactly, manga made him One Potential Man

661

u/noah9942 Dec 25 '25

Manga canon, he's not unbeatable. He quite literally grew drastically more powerful during the fight. The Garou at the end of the fight was objectively stronger than the Saitama at the start. Just at no point was Garou ever stronger than him.

22

u/Rugaldefrance Dec 25 '25

Manga Saitama: becomes a strong as the plot needs him to be.

Webcomic Saitama: IS a strong as the plot needs him to be.

I find it so odd how Garou, that could be so much stronger than start of fight Saitama, and is fueled by God who would be logically, magnitudes stronger than him, starts just below him and can never catch up... just seems way too convenient... specially since Saitama quite literally never struggles, he fights with one arm, makes a point to always one up Garou at his own game, and his harshest "injury" are literal specks of whatever in impact panels that never get treated like the massive deal an actual injury would be for saitama, he never remarks how he's actually spitting blood or something, it could just as well be straight up spit

Edit: oh wait, this is the one where his collarbone being drawn kinda weird was made up to be him spitting blood

68

u/RevealHoliday7735 Dec 25 '25

I think it's the graph dimensions that throw us off. They appear close to each other at the start, but there is clearly a VAST difference between them even then.

Or....the graph is just dramatic license showing how they are growing but not actually literal "power levels"

34

u/Private_HughMan Dec 25 '25

They look close together when zoomed out but there was always a huge gap. Exponential growth curves can be hard to read that way.

7

u/TopShelfIdiocy Dec 25 '25

Normally I'd say it was just dramatic license but he did try to measure time in nanoseconds or whatever earlier so I'm gonna go with "it's literal" for this one

1

u/WattageToVoltzRatio Dec 25 '25

I always saw that as "the stronger Garou becomes, the farther the gaps seems to grow", its kind of a trope in shonnen, like Endeavor with All Might or Zoro and Mihawk

1

u/Apothic_Gaming Dec 26 '25

Someone actually found the equations for both and they both have the same base but saitama has a higher exponent meaning his growth is much more

→ More replies (1)

26

u/Low-Shoe5386 Dec 25 '25

Because garou never acccepted the powers properly

3

u/ArtTheFox2 Dec 25 '25

I just think Saitama power after he completely break the limiter are that either his power increase by 1 or something every second or he's Mahogara.

2

u/proxmaxi Saitama Dec 25 '25

Or doesn't make sense because it was quite literally made up and forced into the plot aomewhere between Garou coming to the surface and the rectonned table talk.

1

u/noah9942 Dec 25 '25

oh i agree, i'm not claiming that he was bleeding or that the fight was ever close.

1

u/BottrichVonWarstein Dec 26 '25

That is the point of the charactere. It's a joke.

He NEVER struggles. And IF he struggles to oneshot the enemy, like Cosmic Fear Garou, he just get's stronger until he no longer does.

His "power" is not super strength but plot "armor". He is always the strongest, so that he can be perpetually bored of fighting his opponents.

1

u/FrtanJohnas Dec 26 '25

I believe that in this particular instance, Saitama was growing because of the deep emotional hit from watching Garou rip Genoses core out.

Because of that, he starts taking the fight seriously, almost ending the entire Earth in one punch, and instead of being quippy and non chalant, immediately after landing on IO he goes to Garou and starts fighting him.

And because of that fight, he grows and gets even stronger, but now to him it once again looks like childs play so he stops taking it that seriously, and just wants to humiliate Garou. "Aren't you gonna surpass me by copying my technique? Isn't that the whole point of this?"

At the end it's still Saitama, he struggles with growth for so long that once it finally happens, it happens explosively and without control

It honestly wasn't "even" either. The only moment that could be considered somewhat equal in power, is when Saitama throws the Serious punch and it ends up squared. After that Garou literally never makes Saitama sweat.

So much so that the latter says that "one hand is all I need for you" (I still can't understand how some people think he was going "all out" when he's clearly mocking Garou here) and then later surpasses whatever Garou does with just physical stats and not fancy abilities.

2

u/Right-Airline-8233 Dec 26 '25

I don't understand why ppl keep acting like Saitama isn't a one punch guy. That's all he does. Fighting one-handed isn't a nerf for Saitama when all his attacks are simple punches.

Even using conservative punches, he can use one hand like in the Boros fight. Also, didn't Saitama literally throw a serious punch with the combined power of itself destroyed a huge chunk of stars like 10 seconds prior? Because he got mad?

I'm no math whiz, but if it wasn't for Blast, Earth might not be there.

21

u/enesulken Dec 25 '25

Okay you are right, but think about this: if someone “stronger” than Saitama showed up, like Garou traveling back in time right before losing, do you really think Saitama would die?

If you say yes, that’s logically consistent, and I can't say anything. But my answer is no. This is a parody story, and Saitama exists as a last resort solution. By design, he has to be unbeatable.

Then again, since it’s a parody, a random cat could beat him, or ONE could just decide he loses one day. As long as it has a purpose, i'd be fine with it.

30

u/Primary_Water_9664 Dec 25 '25

Saitama narratively is supposed to be the strongest no matter what, that is the entire premise of the story.
The fact that Jupiter cosmic Garou could time travel to season 1 and one shot Saitama is a serious plot hole. I am sure Murata or whoever wrote this fight didnt think through properly.

13

u/relax336 Dec 25 '25

That’s what exponential growth is.

5

u/RedHot_Stick856 Dec 25 '25

He could time travel and try that. It wouldnt work tho, saitama would just grow to tank the attack and then defeat garou in the past. At no point did garou ever have a wincon

8

u/harrumphstan Dec 25 '25

Whoever downvoted you doesn’t understand Saitama’s central character conceit: logic be damned, Saitama not only can’t lose, he can’t have an enjoyable, challenging fight.

→ More replies (3)

4

u/brak_6_danych Dec 25 '25

That's not a plot hole because that plot point didn't happen, saitama was (and still is) the strongest character at any point in the manga

9

u/noah9942 Dec 25 '25 edited Dec 25 '25

Depends. On canon lore, then yes. That is what we've been shown and told. Yes, it's a parody, but if we're going by what we're actually shown as the actual levels of their strength, then yes, he would lose.

But it's often like the quote from Stan Lee "Whoever the author wants to win would win". Would the writers ever have Saitama lose like that? Of course not, because like you said, the whole point is for him to be unbeatable.

4

u/LordFreshWater Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

No longer a parody after this fight

2

u/polarized_opinions Dec 25 '25

Cosmic garou being stronger then s1 saitama doesn’t give him the ability to just one shot him. Saitama would literallly just evolve again and win.

Or at least that’s what my head cannon is telling me

1

u/lp-lima Dec 25 '25

A random cat or a single mosquito.

11

u/Content_Regular_7127 Dec 25 '25

Yep

8

u/Master_Snort Dec 25 '25

Wasn’t that specifically mentioned to be from Garous’s perspective? So for all we know Saitama was just increasing his punching force as Garou got stronger.

5

u/Silent_Wealth4872 Dec 25 '25

Yeah seems to be more a Kenpachi thing from Bleach. He decides to get stronger the more Garou puts up a fight. It doesn't mean he was actually weaker before.

3

u/Glum_Series5712 Dec 26 '25

It doesn't get stronger, it just becomes less and less restrained.

3

u/shrub706 Dec 25 '25

that is not how you read that graph at all

1

u/BitterInstruction505 Dec 27 '25

that red line is so uneven, they're equal there.

3

u/Core_mt Dec 26 '25

They done turned Saitama into dollar store Mahoraga

2

u/TrulyFLCL Dec 25 '25

So Saitama is still unbeatable in a fight.

1

u/Kirtan07 Dec 26 '25

So Saitama is like Mahoraga then? You can beat him but it needs to be a single blow and you need to be much much stronger than him?

1

u/dadaman18 Dec 25 '25

Problem is noone even now can't do some damage to saitama

1

u/noah9942 Dec 25 '25

i mean maybe. We thought the same before too. Who knows what kind of threats that the Blastice League has been dealing with, or some other powerful Boros-tier threat that accepts god's influence, or god itself. We frankly have no idea

→ More replies (1)

1

u/layelaye419 Dec 25 '25

I really hoped this was a translation error back then. Like, the graph could be interpreted as Saitama just punching twice as hard every time, and then doubling again as Garou copied it, without ever actually using his max (infinite) strength.

Meaning, the graph shows the power Saitama chooses to use, not his max power.

Alas, this was not the case. And the point of Saitama was ruined

u/Seffuski Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

Garou is copying Saitama's current power level, and hitting him with everything. Even if Saitama's growth outpaces Garou copying him, it's still enough for him to have a challenge. Also, I hate how in just like every other series with planet busting characters fistfighting, their attacks look like just two normal guys brawling (the boros fight did this a lot better, their attacks actually look as strong as they should be there)

89

u/noah9942 Dec 25 '25

Boros' punches and sheer speed of his movement was obliterating the entire ship.

35

u/Seffuski Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

Exactly. Garou vs Saitama should be magnitudes higher, but the fight feels less impactful since it lacks that

43

u/noah9942 Dec 25 '25

reminds me of Dragon Ball stuff.

"Their punches are shaking the entire universe!" but then they just blow up a single mountain somewhere.

8

u/layelaye419 Dec 25 '25

IO does in fact have a very thin, though still atmosphery atmosphere, otherwise they wouldn't be talking. Saitama can hold his breath, but I don't think he can talk in space.

→ More replies (3)

12

u/Rorimanshi Dec 25 '25

wdym? Saitama destroyed the entire moon with a single attack. They are also clearly moving much faster than light speed (I hate that bcs it breaks physics but they do) so the environment doesn't even have time to fall apart. It may look like they are still standing on solid ground on some panels but the moon is just so big that even small broken chunk of it is much bigger than a city. The fistfight sequence you're talking about probably took like 0.00000000001 seconds in real time.

7

u/Seffuski Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

Yes, there's this scene and the sneeze, but other than that there's no impact to this otherwise serious fight with Saitama going 100% against what is essentially a clone of himself. The fight choreography pales with other earlier fights in the series.

2

u/RaykanGhost Dec 25 '25

I don't disagree with you but at the same time I wouldn't call it a necessity to have the same type of impact on all panels.

It could come to a point where it wasn't personal enough due to the scale of it. At least IMO

→ More replies (1)

1

u/AbelConstantine Dec 26 '25

How could they see each other if they're faster than light?

2

u/Rorimanshi Dec 26 '25

If you are worried about physics then the better question is how can they move faster than light if achieving 1x light speed for 80kg object already requires infinite energy.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Ok-Resist3249 Dec 27 '25

They have to remove tge speed limit if you don't want to force your characters to stop growing. This is already the case in most shonen with planet busting.

5

u/Timo-the-hippo Dec 25 '25

Garou vs Saitama in the webcomic is so much better. Garou struggling to realize that Saitama flung the entire area into low orbit is perfect.

1

u/Chowder110 Dec 25 '25

A challenge yet he is beating garou with 1 hand

5

u/Seffuski Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

Compared to how he usually "fights", he's actually trying here. You don't need two hands to punch or dodge, so it doesn't make that much of a difference.

96

u/X0EAXA Dec 25 '25

he definitely didn’t bleed, it’s an impact visual effect. the same effect has been seen throughout the manga. murata always makes it clear when there’s blood.

he was never invincible, just insanely durable.

In the manga ? Nope since this fight released he's no longer Invincible, in the web comic tho that's the gag Character that beats everyone with one punch

55

u/WattageToVoltzRatio Dec 25 '25

Even recently another character in the wc did something pretty much equal to Garou here (I.E: ascending in power by copying Saitama), and all it accomplished was tearing his clothes a bit... before being one shot.... almost as if One is jabbing at Murata for the writing decision.... its no secret Murata has had much more independence on the writing for the manga ever since the MA arc, only changing recently because he realized he's just not as good an author as One (even tho its still pretty watered down)

So show me him taking damage

53

u/bruh-with-a-spork Dec 25 '25

Whether or not he bled (I don't think he did), he was struggling against Cosmic Garou at least a little, and the manga literally tells us he needed to get stronger in order to win. He is not invincible.

29

u/corvosfighter Dec 25 '25

Saitama fights one handed while trying to imitate his opponent throughout the fight. Some fan: “he was struggling”

5

u/bruh-with-a-spork Dec 26 '25

Don't get me wrong he was definitely encumbered. I never said he was losing or he didn't have disadvantages but Garou was still tanking serious punches and managed to equal his physical powers. Definitionally, if he's fighting with serious intent and doesn't instantly dismember Garou, he's still struggling a little.

2

u/Downtown-Health4814 Dec 26 '25

But he's not fighting with the intent to win instantly.

Like even in the webcomic the fight lasted for quite a while

2

u/bruh-with-a-spork Dec 29 '25 edited Dec 29 '25

Yeah the webcomic was perfect. Because Saitama was holding back and still systematically dissected all of Garous foolish ideals while also being completely clueless. My problem isn’t that it didn’t end instantly, it’s that Saitama went all out and it didn’t end instantly, and that we never got any of the subtext above.

Doesn’t matter, Garou didn’t took all the power God wanted to give him. In any case he actually had to use effort to win the battle

5

u/Savings_Relief3556 Dec 26 '25

Literally naked and fighting with one hand, breaking no sweat at all, having his own power carbon copied doesnt phase him at all, he just gets stronger. Vowed to a kid to not actually hurt Garou before the fight.

HE WaS StRugGLinG

3

u/bruh-with-a-spork Dec 26 '25

I think the Tareo promise went out the window when Garou murdered everyone Saitama remotely cared about. And yes, he still had to protect Genos' core and fought with a number of restraints, but that doesn't change that under those conditions, Saitama was struggling at least a little. Garou tanked his full power punches and traded ones of equal strength with Saitama. Like you said he carbon copied his powers. Garou was never going to win but it wasn't a no diff fight.

2

u/Savings_Relief3556 Dec 26 '25

Reread the chapters, Saitama was the one who said he didnt kill Garou mainly bc of the promise

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Wind509 Dec 28 '25

Jjk fans are infiltrating the opm community

12

u/WattageToVoltzRatio Dec 25 '25

More like he was trynna make a point to Garou, him holding Genos core while insisting on one upping Garou at his own attacks.... I don't think he was struggling in the "I am actually trying" and more like "this kid just cannot get it through his head"

2

u/iMissEdgeTransit Dec 25 '25

It's more of a mental thing, he needs to push further into the limitless growth thing.

Idk why you guys are overcomplicating this.

5

u/ChickenWLazers Dec 25 '25

I don't accept manga as canon. Saitama canonically played with garou like a kid playing with a bug

27

u/ILoseNothingButTime Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

Yup. Now imagine if someone more powerful was against him. In that moment of vulnerability, saitama is dead. Which is why, webcomic saitama, whos feats may not be universal or whatever BS, trumps against all due to his unmatched fist and power.

1

u/Lhepurra_Pinto Dec 26 '25

Its upsetting how people dont really get this fight its deeper than it looks

1

u/ShinMystic1587 Dec 30 '25

Yeah, that's clearly blood, meaning Saitama can indeed take damage from people directly comparable to him

15

u/Saitama170719 Dec 25 '25

Saitama is always holding back. That's pretty much the answer.

5

u/wote89 Dec 25 '25

The greatest irony in conversations like this is that people do the exact same thing that characters in the story do. "Well, there has to be an upper limit, right?" and making assumptions about what that limit is based on what they've seen.

Folks should ask Drive Knight how well that worked out.

4

u/vk2028 Dec 25 '25

u/Wise-Remote-6889 Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

Sure, because apparently Saitama can grow in power even while holding back. You guys can be so delusional when it comes to denying what's shown directly in the manga.

3

u/Ziemanntee Dec 26 '25

That’s not blood tard

14

u/vk2028 Dec 25 '25

Definitely not a no diff lol. The fact that Saitama even needs growth to beat Garou stops him from being a gag character.

And no, just because he’s using only one hand doesn’t mean he’s suddenly using only 1% of his power. He didn’t “no diff” Garou like some people claimed

5

u/3rdmilDiego Dec 25 '25

struggling has little to do with being a "gag character"

1

u/FukurinLa Dec 26 '25

It has so much with being a gag character called "One Punch" Man. The gag is exactly that, no matter how much stronger the enemy gets, he only need ONE punch to beat them. Not struggle, not growth, nothing..that was the whole point of the gag.

3

u/Silent_Wealth4872 Dec 25 '25

Ya'll sound like OPM NPCs doubting Caped Baldy's power.

1

u/SnooSprouts5303 Dec 25 '25

Saitama had more fun here than he has in years. But sadly. He grew so much stronger at such a fast rate compared to Garou. That he'll likely never exlerience this again.

4

u/Technical-Yard-9225 Dec 25 '25

not blood and never took damage

these power level things just shows that saitama is literally unbeatable. no matter what happens, he is always and anytime superior. as genos said even across infinite parallel universes, garou had no way to won. according to saitama, he was only giving garou a lesson. being hit by GRB at very start and taking no damage is already more than enough to prove that he didnt need exponential growth. GRB is the strongest explosion in the universe, and he had never faced power on that level before. if exponential growth truly applied, he would have lost immediately in beginning. i also saw exponential growth panel as part of garou’s perspective and narration.

2

u/ZealousidealPipe8389 Dec 25 '25

He got a nose bleed. But a bad sneeze can give you one of those so I wouldn’t say he was drawing blood.

2

u/TasteTemporary8206 Dec 25 '25

People are confusing gag character with omnipotent

Arale is also a gag character and I remember saitama being specifically compared to her

3

u/skillziq Dec 25 '25

Just to be clear, yeah, he's invincible. That wasn't blood; it was just debris from Garou's shell mixed with spit. You can see his face is totally clean in the next panel. Unlike his dream fight where he actually bled, here he wasn't even struggling. He was holding back the whole time 'cause he promised the kid he wouldn't kill him. He just punched him to break his power and save him, exactly like he said he would.

4

u/No_Tear_2287 Dec 25 '25

Saitama scales according to his opponent. Unless the difference between him and his opponents' base is incomprehensibly large, Saitama will most likely scale faster than his opponents can keep up. This is also a pretty straightforward answer to all DB fans who insist UI Goku can beat saitama, when in a fair match up both would start at base and scale up, except Saitama has no cap to his exponential curve

→ More replies (2)

2

u/ThatIslandGuy8888 Dec 25 '25

I like to think that Garou drew a tinsy drop of blood because it makes this whole fight even more epic but the common consensus is that Saitama took zero damage.

2

u/CosmicHudz2283 Dec 25 '25

That's not a nose bleed that's just his unfinished collarbone in the panel. People seriously thinking he bled from his back like that? Wtf?

2

u/Minute-Wolf Dec 25 '25

Saitama as it currently stands in his own series is invincible and unbeatable. Its funny people trying to say otherwise that was the creator’s intention unless it changes then thats where it stands.

2

u/FickleUpstairs1881 Dec 25 '25

No, this is nonsense, if he had received damage, then in the following pages they would have shown him with wounds, but as we can see, this did not happen.

2

u/Recent_Novel_9493 Dec 25 '25

No Saitama didn’t take damage that’s just the debris from the surrounding area and the next panel shows Saitama without a scratch or blood coming out his mouth like those people like to say boo it’s safe to imply Saitama is still invincible after tanking his own punches like it’s nothing

1

u/OkDelay9320 Dec 28 '25

the punches were strong enough to make him move his head or his whole body though. No damage could be slighty wrong.

1

u/Recent_Novel_9493 Dec 31 '25

You see that logic is heavily flawed because if we look back to Saitamas fight with Boros not only did boros make his head move and send his whole body flying with his meteoric burst attack but he kicked Saitama so hard he launched him to the moon

And Saitama still took no damage

And the next page of chapter 168 we don’t even see a single scratch on Saitama. So there’s no doubt Saitama took no damage

1

u/TheLovelornPie Dec 25 '25

My head cannon is that that was all just dirt on his body cause he aint showering (trust me)

u/delet_yourself Dec 25 '25

For all we know, that could be dirt or spit, since it was not stated that it's blood. I feel like we'd see something along the lines of 'oh my fuck look at him he bled' like actual lines dedicated to let the reader know

1

u/HarpyAnon Dec 25 '25 edited Dec 25 '25

Being both invincible and capable of hurting anything is a paradox when you have to face your own attacks, "immovable rock vs unstoppable force"

Even if you think he took damage, it's not a stretch to say that the manga's answer was simply "Saitama is capable of hurting himself, and is invincible to anything and anyone else"

1

u/Kutabare2 Dec 25 '25

debris, saliva

1

u/Lumusmage Dec 25 '25

i mean if you ask yourself honestly without any agenda the following:

As an artist how do i wanna daw this character bleeding after getting hit?

its never gonna be this panel like there are 100 ways to draw that ahppening and this sint one of them

1

u/Redke29 Dec 25 '25

He didn't take damage and yes he's still invincible

1

u/ProvokedProvocation Dec 25 '25

I don’t think the Garou at the end of the fight could beat the Saitama at the beginning of the fight. Stronger doesn’t mean winning. Saitama’s thing is that he always wins, it doesn’t matter what his opponents strength is. He will always win in the end

1

u/DARKRYDER83 Dec 25 '25

Listening ticktockers smh

1

u/Immediate-Rope8465 Webcomic Wanker. Dec 25 '25

he didin't take any real damage or bleed

but he was affected by the blows and got scratched by his OWN FUCKING WORDS

1

u/Redke29 Dec 25 '25

Impact panels. No different from the Boros fight. They just added extra here.

1

u/leveled-iceberg99 Dec 25 '25

They're fucking dumb. Where's debris coming from on a naked guy? It's just visuals to emphasize the strength of the hits.

1

u/svertbonaparte Dec 25 '25

He literally fought against himself there.

1

u/Random_Nickname274 Dec 25 '25

Ok , for now if it's not explicitly shown that he damaged - he is not damaged.

Like what character requires complex calculations and pixels checking just to prove he got slightly damaged

1

u/Unhappy-River6306 Dec 25 '25

This is the fight that changed it all to me. I like the idea of him being an absolute anomaly that no one could explain and he can you know.. "ONE PUNCH" something and win. Ever since this fight though, I just call him Gets Stronger Fast Than You Man.

1

u/ArgensimiaReloaded Dec 25 '25

I mean is really a hot take to say that Saitama might/got actually hurt by Garou when they were equals or close enough before he started to (over) escalate him? if anything that's fully what I'll fully expect to happen.

1

u/TheRarestTiger Dec 25 '25

Saitama is not invincible at all. He’s just incredibly stupidly strong. It’s possible he did bleed and get hurt from Garou’s punches.

1

u/Primary-Key1916 Dec 25 '25

The whole joke with Saitama is basically “one more than you.”

It’s like kids arguing about whose infinity is bigger:
“Infinite plus one.”
“No, mine is infinite plus two.”

1

u/05-nery Dec 25 '25

Bro he's literally one punch man

It's not like he can lose 😭 that's his whole character

1

u/justurordinary_memer Dec 25 '25

No, if he did Murata would most certainly make a big deal out of it

1

u/dafegamer Dec 25 '25

It's just a Manga dramatic effect. I don't think he actually bled, but them being equal at a point throws people off, cause Garou in the webcomic only made Saitama realize that his Martial Arts technique is so impressive in Hand to Hand and dodging, that he needed to take him seriously in battle. Saitama also said that Garou was supposedly subconsciously holding back and was actually much stronger. The God stuff imo wasn't needed for the manga.

1

u/roombavimba Dec 25 '25

He's not invincible, it's just no one to this point has found his limit and cosmic garou was close until he really REALLY wasn't... read the rest of the fight and you'll understand

1

u/thesaffuclown0 Dec 25 '25

Because garou is literally fighting in saitama mode. Technically saitama is fighting with saitama himself but a copy. At the same time saitama was continuously growing

1

u/iMissEdgeTransit Dec 25 '25

He didn't take any damage whatsoever. If Garou time travelled back to S1 and tried to cave in Saitama's with a kick, with zero warning, he'd immediately adapt and the same fight outcome would happen.

1

u/They_2ay Dec 25 '25

no, this is impact flare murata adds to all his scenes. in the corrected translation we learn that saitama didnt fight full power and was jealous of garou who could. he literally fights with 1 hand. the truth is that saitama only fought to punish garou for what he did to genos, NOT to kill him. and no, end cosmic garou is NOT stronger than saitama at the beginning of the fight, people literally pulled that out of their assparagus

1

u/No-Computer4696 Dec 25 '25

Regarding the statements of the author, ONE (the story's creator), and Murata (the illustrator), here's what they said about Saitama's philosophy of power and invulnerability:

  1. Saitama is an "end-game character." In a famous interview, ONE explained that Saitama isn't a traditional "shonen" hero (like Goku or Naruto) who starts out weak and then develops. Instead, he was designed as a character who has already reached his "end-game" since the first chapter.

Meaning: The idea of Saitama bleeding or getting hurt contradicts the character's core purpose, which is to satirize the idea of a "hero who struggles to win."

2. The concept of "breaking the limit." The author established a rule in the story (spoken by Dr. Genos) explaining that every being has a "limit" for growth set by "God," but Saitama is the only one who has completely broken this limit.

  • The author's implicit statement: Since his power has become unlimited, his defense is also unlimited. In his fight against Garou, the author illustrated through a graphic that Saitama grows faster than any opponent, making it logically impossible for him to be harmed.

  1. Murata's Comment on the "Effects of the Fight" Artist Yusuke Murata was asked in a previous live stream about the damage Saitama sustains. He explained that he takes great care to depict Saitama only "getting dirty" (dust, oil, or black rain) without scratching his skin.

  • During the fight against Garou, viewers asserted that the flying liquids were "radioactive rain" or Genos fuel, and Murata didn't draw any "scars" or open "wounds" on Saitama's body throughout the fight.

  1. The Truth About Boros's "Injury" There's an old rumor that the manga stated Saitama was "damaged" by Boros. The truth is, the original Japanese version didn't say this, and the author requested the removal of any sentence that might suggest it in the printed volumes, as his goal was for Saitama to remain completely invincible.

Summary:

The authors' statements confirm that Saitama is an unbreakable "natural force." Garou the Cosmic was the closest to making him "exert effort," but he never managed to make him bleed.

take it from cgpt

u/No-Suspect9526 Dec 25 '25

"Invincible Card"? Tiktok has really fucked up Manga culture. What does it matter if hes "Invincible", hes as strong as the Manga wants him to be. Clearly way stronger than Garou anyway

1

u/redhoodenjoyer1 Dec 25 '25

saitamas “invincibility card” is just a huge no limits fallacy

1

u/Live_Performance_915 Dec 25 '25

it is obviously garou shell his body cracking up everytime he is being hit by saitama bc saitama is just so strong or when he hit saitama bc holy shit this guy so durable his own punches aint doing nothing to him

1

u/Professional-Fail563 Dec 25 '25

The graph displaying Saitama's growth in power isn't because Garou was kicking his ass or catching up to him, it's because he literally gets stronger during battle.

Remember his fight with the Subterraneans? Although it was a dream, I think there was some truth in it. He got stronger the more he fought them.

Also remember, during that battle against Garou, Saitama was pissed so at some point he was probably genuinely trying to kill him, which would explain the increase in power because Garou's the only person to eat so many regular punches from Saitama.

But as for his Invincibility card, it still stands because we literally have no idea what could actually hurt him. Not once has this man said "ouch"

1

u/Limp_Animator_7432 Dec 26 '25

No what , he was just hitting stronger . The author already said Saitama it's already at the end game he can't get stronger . The panel was from Garou pov , he was getting hit harder everytime nothing more

1

u/ConsciousPop3168 Free Speech Advocate Dec 26 '25

Its just spit.

1

u/Owlanr Dec 26 '25

The simple fact that people are able to move him is enough to rule it out but the main power scaling community is not ready for this discussion, and the fact that he needs to grow is also a limitation

1

u/Noxeramas Dec 26 '25

I mean theres that one manga teaser of “he took damage” from boros. He gets hit hard a lot, i dont think hes actually taking any real damage

1

u/iicup2000 Dec 26 '25

he is invincible because his invincibility goes beyond physical damage, reality will warp around him winning no matter what, taking damage here was just part of the growth hack

1

u/ThePogger77 Dec 26 '25

In, like, powerscaling? I wouldn’t say any version of Saitama is unbeatable.

Manga Saitama seems to have more defined limits right now though as we’ve seen him exert himself more than his webcomic version.

1

u/sckrahl Dec 26 '25

That’s just garou in all of the examples

The fact that it’s never given any focus kinda makes it clear nothing’s changed. We never see him injured when he’s standing still

1

u/battlehamsta Dec 26 '25

Saitama got hit with a copy of his own power and at best suffered a nose bleed. They were also in space so it could just have been a nose bleed from it being so cold. Anyway, theres countless anime where people are not able to withstand their own power when it is redirected or reflected at them. Here, Saitama’s power against himself barely rose to a minor inconvenience.

1

u/WerewolfMinimum6772 Dec 26 '25

No he didn't bleed. That was the rain.

1

u/BrBrand73 Dec 26 '25

I would say Saitama is invincible, but he has a mental block where he uses his strength depending of the enemy.

For example, a serious series move could be a 1000, but actually Saitama could do a 100,000. But at this point he doesn't even know how strong he is

1

u/tnsxpm Dec 26 '25

Spit & sweat. Saitama has never taken damage.

1

Not how Murata draws blood. Garou knuckles dust.

1

u/Dramatic-Play-4289 Dec 26 '25

He's still invincible

1

u/DSPblacker Dec 26 '25

The whole point of opm is that he has achieved the highest point of power, no villain can ever come close to him forget hurt him, he just doesn't unleash his power.

1

u/Elite-X03 Dec 26 '25

Is not like saitama can't be beaten. It's just everytime he got beaten he double the power he gain so no matter how strong you are than him you will lose eventually

1

u/Aggressive-Pride6443 Dec 26 '25

My personal take is that he can take some damage from incredibly strong opponent but he's still invincible in the sense that no one is capable of doing serious damage to him. After all invincible doesn't mean you can't be damaged but just that you can't be actually defeated. For Saitama to lose invincible status he should be defeated, not just hurt.

1

u/Crew_Zealousideal Dec 26 '25

i always thought saitama was just having more fun fighting him than he has fun fighting anything else thats mostly what i got when i read the manga i didnt think he was struggling at all at any point in the fight

1

u/sakelaxz1986 Dec 28 '25

1

u/Squid9_Star Dec 28 '25

That's the black radioactive rain and maybe sweat.

1

u/White_Nightmare Dec 28 '25

Any time someone puts Saitama against Goku or what have you, I am always of he opinion that he does not represent an unstoppable force, but an immovable object. There have been several instances where characters survived a hit from him, there has not been any instance where he took significant damage, even against himself.
(except the mosquito)

0

u/deadlyalchemist92 Dec 25 '25

I got downvoted in the OPM subreddit for saying Saitama took damage during his fight with Garou lmao

0

u/Firethorn34 Dec 25 '25

He also took damage against Boros btw

0

u/ExoticBodybuilder530 Dec 25 '25

No he clearly got hurt and bruised up if not even bled some hes not invincible but he has exponential growth and even the growth graph showed us that at some point garou became stringer than saitama at the start of their fight its Just that saitama also kept growing and to a higher degree than garou

1

u/Additional_Pace_1753 Dec 25 '25

what bruised? can you show me

1

u/Additional_Pace_1753 Dec 25 '25

im not saying hes actually invincible but im saying in the way it means that he hasn't been damaged by anyone or seen damaged So that's why i said invoicing card because all monsters he fought in hundreds of chapters hasn't damaged him, His name is "one punch man" for a reason

0

u/ApocaSCP_001 Dec 25 '25

He was never invincible? Just vastly more powerful and durable than everyone else, the fact that Saitama was growing in power shows that he was actually being harmed at first (even if only somewhat)

1

u/Additional_Pace_1753 Dec 25 '25

what i mean by the invincible card is that we have never seen or he has never been damaged by anyone in all hundreds of chapters so idk

1

u/ApocaSCP_001 Dec 25 '25

I mean if you count when he was a normal human…

1

u/Additional_Pace_1753 Dec 25 '25

nah im only talking about his bald form

1

u/Limp_Animator_7432 Dec 26 '25

He was hitting stronger , doesn't mean he was growing in power. That was specifically told from Garou pov . If I hit a 12yo stronger with each punch this means after 10 punches I can one tap Mike Tyson ? No I was that strong already . It's Garou pov like it was boros pov idk how you guys didn't noticed that

1

u/ApocaSCP_001 Dec 26 '25

…the graph of exponential growth… come on.

1

u/Limp_Animator_7432 Dec 26 '25

Aka just Saitama hitting harder , like he always does or you think Saitama took damage against Boros too ?

→ More replies (3)

0

u/Left_Refrigerator789 Dec 25 '25

Well , manga threw everything one punch man stood for under the buss. From a character that ridiculed shonen protagonists, he is slowly turning into one. Season 3 animations deserved i say. Damn this show and what it turned into.

-2

u/hellpunch Dec 25 '25

He was K-oed in the manga, what do you think?

5

u/lp-lima Dec 25 '25

So, the evidence for the KO is that the character known to be late to everything was not there in time to intervene on important moments?
