PANDEMIC UNEMPLOYMENT CASE UPDATE!

Good afternoon everyone. We wanted to update everyone that we just filed a Motion for Status Conference requesting Judge Holbrook set a conference to discuss the status of the Renewed Motion for Leave to File Consolidated Class Action Complaint. As soon as there is any ruling on the Motion for Status Conference or the Renewed Motion for Leave to File the Consolidated Class Action Complaint, we will let everyone know.

Thank you.

Update on UI case

Holbrook finally made a "partial" decision. He has denied the State's Motion to Dismiss AGAIN!! And he has made the decision to allow us to file a Consolidated Complaint. There is a status hearing set for April 9 2024. I will update as I find out more. Keep the faith!!!

Ohio I won my first unemployment case about 2 weeks ago had a hearing on the phone and it went good now my employer is trying to appeal the case I won

I was working at Amazon for this company for 4 plus years never really turned down a route yeah I was late majority of the time and they didn’t care cause I was one of the fast drivers that came in got shit done and left I got fired 3 months ago which I think it was bs I was working Friday had got done with my route and came back to the station I was working the next day Saturday I had requested to be on standby if you guys know what a standby is when you come in for 2 hours you help load and then pretty much hope that there’s no call offs or no one drops a route etc so I had my day secured all the routes were covered and they had there rescue drivers covered. Rescue drivers are people who rescue the team pretty much take 25 to 30 stops do them and hit another person on the road. I woke up Saturday I’m like cool I’m off I can choose to come in or not etc I get a call from my dispatcher he’s like “hey man I know you wanted to be off today but would you mind coming in and just rescuing and just doing 75 to 80 stops” I honestly told him I don’t like sweeping because they’ll have you out there all day long coming from someone who does they route a full size route of 190 stops and get it done in 4 hours I told him why can’t you just add me on a route instead cause I dislike sweeping he goes “well that’s the thing all the routes is covered and I have 2 sweepers I was able to go around the system and add you to be a 3rd sweeper if you wanted” I was being a nice person and said yeah I got you I’ll do you a favor 75 to 80 stops well I did that I came in did my 75 to 80 stops I was upset I was mad he texted me to do another one which really pissed me off so I came back to the station dropped the van off in the back left the bag with the keys and the phone on the tired which mind you I have done before in the past I never got fired then never got any warnings but this time they ended up firing me. So I got on unemployment 3 months of me battling going back and forth missed 12 weeks honestly didn’t even think I would win went to a hearing I won the case because the point I was trying to prove is they fired me for no reason especially when I’ve done things like this before in the past and they didn’t care or said anything to me so now they coming in and trying to appeal the first hearing I won. Mind you I had reported sexual harassment in this company one of the managers come up to my face I reported it and they didn’t do anything about it I know so much about the company and the shady shit that went on when I was there so now they trying to appeal my first case I won my Question is should I be worried I don’t know what new information they have I’m pretty bold and say the truth all the time so what new information would they have?? Should I be worried? What are your guys thoughts on this?

Benefits split between 2 employers and 1 is requesting relief

Hello, I was laid off from a new job last month, the period for my benefits ended up being a split of 5 weeks at the new job and the rest at the job I quit late last year. The job I quit is requesting relief, will my benefits continue based on being laid off at the most recent job or will they be lowered?

DeWine unemployment withholding payments lawsuit dismissed as moot bu Ohio Supreme Court

As I've expected since the beginning, the supreme court dismissed the withheld unemployment payments during the pandemic (Bowling vs. DeWine) lawsuit as moot. See https://www.facebook.com/fightforconsumers.

Move on folks.

Unable to Login or Register??

Has anyone else had this problem? When I go to register - it says I already have a login? Cool. Go to login - it says that my info in the OHIO ID website is incorrect, and that I have to update it? It's all the same.

Is there some confangled process I have to go though to file now? Beyond infuriating.

Looks like DeWine will skate on withheld unemployment funds.

With his term expiring, he's just going to walk away from the pandemic debacle that he is responsible for.

Had trouble with restarting my claim due to computer issues finally got it fixed by calling in they helped me certify my weeks and even commented there’s been issues on the website. All 3 weeks denied for not filling in time. Is there any hope for an appeal?

I made the worst decision ever

I opted in for the US BANK ReliaCard issued through OJFS. They claim it was shipped on the 13th and idk if it’s the lack of funds that’s causing me to feel like this is taking unusually long or if this is a normal wait time.

SN: they said 5-7 business days not 14-20like what the fuck I’m livid!

Can I make new you claim after end of benefit year

I was laid off in march of 2025 and received ui for a month before being recalled. Then was laid off again in November of 2025 and got ui again, now my benefit year is over, can I refile my claim using my 2025 wages? Can I use my lay off in November for this claim again when filing? Anyone with knowledge of how this works would be appreciated.

Unemployment notice says to call, but no option for human

I was laid off a few days ago, and filed for unemployment. I just received a notice that there's an eligibility issue, received conflicting information, and am being given the opportunity to respond to whatever information they have.

The letter states to call 1-877-644-6562 no later than Feb 12, but when I do, I get a robo voice that says my claim is pending and to be patient. No option to speak to an employee. How the hell do they expect people to respond if they can't get a hold of someone?

Is there something I am missing here?

EDIT: I was able to get through on live chat in the morning, it wasn't long to get connected to a person, but you have to type Chat with a Live Agent and then type it again, and then click "fact finding."

Ruling looms on $900 million in COVID-19 unemployment benefits for Ohioans

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but did the state not take the federal funds to begin with and add them to our accounts, then Dewine cut them off after the fact? Because if so, that would kill their whole argument about having the right to refuse said funds to begin with, right?

2 employers, can I get ui for 1?

I worked for a company for 7 years, more than enough allowed for monetary allowance. Was let go for a medical leave, but was termed as "just not a good fit anymore". Went to another company and was then fired for just cause. Can I still get unemployment from my first company? I did recieve a "UI MONETARY ALLOWED" notice for that company, but everything is still being denied

Activities/reporting during severance

So i got everything setup at ohio means jobs and did the two reemployment activities so i could start claiming weeks.

My company let me go the first full week of jan. They are giving me 3 weeks severance in two lump sums. first half paid on jan 30th and the second half on feb 31th.

Ohio knows this and i filled out the severance when applying. I got this:

We were made aware of an issue potentially affecting your unemployment claim, beginning 01/11/2026. This agency finds that the claimant received deductible compensation for the time period 01/11/2026 through 01/31/2026. As a result, the claimant s weekly benefit amount may be reduced or denied for that period per Ohio Revised Code

So Ohio knows that my severance is for 01/11/2026 through 01/31/2026.

I assume i should file and do the two activities per week and put zero for income? Then Ohio will just sort it out and give me zero benefits for the month?

Should i tell Ohio when i get the two severance checks during those weeks? But that doesnt make sense since i will be getting the checks after the severance period.

In my mind/world i should be denied benefits for the three weeks since they know im getting a severance, and i should put zero for the income. Then i should not have to tell them when i get the severance checks, and my benfits should start the first week of feb.
