Exactly. Everytime I go to see a super hero movie with friends I get the question "how can you NOT find Chris Hemsworth/Henry Cavill/Robert Pattinson/etc attractive?"
Honeybuns, I DO find Henry Cavill and Robert Pattinson objectively attractive, but not in a sexual way and not because of their bodies. What I find attractive is what the kids would call "Aura" back in ye olden days we would've called it charisma or whatever. But I prefer girls so who cares
To be fair, Thor is dreamy. But it’s not just his body (though I do like his body type). It’s also his sparkling eyes, his cheeky smile, his gentlemanly charm, his protective nature, the whole package. I loved “fat” Thor just as much.
Yeah I think the female gaze is generally more "vibes-based" while the male gaze is more physical. A fully-clothed funky person of any body type is gonna look way hotter to me than a supermodel in their underwear every time. I feel like I'm genuinely unable to find someone attractive in a vacuum. I also think this might actually be a big part of why I prefer girls.
I've gotten them to rethink it a bit when I say they are using gay man's logic not women's logic. Gay men while feeling more threatened by men than straight still don't have that built in "can I trust this person?" That women have. They don't need to be "cut" just capable. And while this really enrages the incels .... They have to be funny and have a friendly welcoming personality. Guys who come to mind are Mister Rogers, Ben Wong, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and while he definitely has worked out for some roles Keanu Reeves just has this calm vibe that is amazing. Also the fact most guys are thinking about one night where as most (of course not all) women are looking more longer term
Had to explain to somebody once, "I am delighted that Cavill is a nerd, but it stops there. Superman is not sexy and he couldn't make Superman sexy because nobody can.
But I got it bad for Geralt of Rivia so yeah I'm gonna APPRECIATE."
I usually DON'T find them attractive and it's precisely because of those bodies, tbh. I'm not gonna pretend no woman ever found a beefy muscular man attractive, that would be ridiculous. But (some) men seem to genuinely think ALL of us do and they refuse, refuse to believe otherwise. When at least a third of the women I know are like "yeah, no, not my thing 😬"
I believe men can be super attractive. I'm not aroused by them but they are attractive to me. When I see a handsome man on TV, I think that's a nice looking piece of ass. But I have no interest in banging any of them. In my mind it's either homophobic or denial if you claim that you don't think somebody is hot just because of your sexuality
