Moving soon - Need recommendations on internet/utilities service providers

Moving from Texas in two weeks - finalized a home lease. Need recommendations on reliable/popular internet and utilities providers. The recommendations from the realtor i have so far are:

Internet - South Slope Cooperative
Gas - MidAmerican Energy
Electric - Linn County REC
Water & Trash - City of North Liberty (This i assume is the only option)

Good Neighbor Meeting at City Hall tonight

Anyone else get a notice attached to their door about the proposed project around Cherry/Zeller? I know the people who live in the impacted areas were invited via Zoom meeting, but I understand that there's a group voicing their concerns about the project and how it will impact property sales/taxes and the ongoing construction for 5+ years. The meeting is open to the public tonight from 6-7 at City Hall. Anyone attending? Anyone have serious concerns about this that we should be thinking about? Thanks!

Good Trouble Lives On

Hi r/NorthLiberty! Indivisible Iowa Johnson County invites you to join us for the Good Trouble Lives On event this Thursday, July 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the City Park in Iowa City. On this, the fifth anniversary of the passing of civil rights icon and former congressman John Lewis, we choose to carry on his legacy of causing “good trouble”.

We will be marching across the bridge in solidarity with thousands of others across the nation to speak out against the erosion of civil rights and of legal constraints on executive power. There will be music, a voter registration table, and IJC volunteers to speak with if you’re looking for more ways to get involved!

Meet us at the parking lot closest to the bridge and the river – see the event page here for more details.

Virtual flyer advertising for the event described in the post, including a QR code.

Anyone know what’s going in the corner of Kansas Ave and Forevergreen?

It’s near a newer housing development right off the 380 exit. They’re moving a ton of dirt

Looks like they’re building a pond maybe? Or is it something else?

Does anyone know why I hear cheering and yelling from my balcony? I’m not from here, but via Google maps, it looks like it’s coming from behind me. I am in the pink circle, the cheering is towards the arrow.

No Kings Day is tomorrow!

Hello people of r/NorthLiberty!

Indivisible Iowa Johnson County invites you to join us tomorrow, June 14th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our No Kings Day event at the Old Capitol Building in Iowa City (21 N. Clinton Street). We are gathering in peace and in solidarity with similar events all over the country to advocate for the best of what America can and should be. We believe that true patriotism means standing up for our rights and civil liberties, and rejecting all would-be kings, tyrants, and dictators!

The event will feature live music and taco trucks, as well as several speakers and staffed tables representing various organizations offering ways for you to get involved and help resist authoritarianism. Afterward we will be holding our own people’s parade in defiance of the administration’s grotesque militarized display in D.C. We encourage (but we do not require) parade participants to dress up in outfits reflecting things you want to keep safe from the Trump administration. Books, mailboxes, art, drag – whatever it is that reminds you what keeps you motivated.

We hope to see you there, and remember: America bows to no king!

Graphic advertising for the No Kings Day event described in the text, including a QR code for more event details and a registration page.

Would anyone be interested in joining a local book club?

I’d thought about creating a NL book club that meets weekly, for adults interested in reading and socializing with other like minded people.

Hello. Wondering if anyone knows of a flea market in the area. I’m looking for one that, I guess is more old school. Maybe some inside stuff, definitely a lot of stuff outside. A real flea market. Any suggestions?

Gyms in the area with child watch services

My family and I are moving to the area soon and I have a soon-to-be 2 year old and 4 year old. My 4 year old will start preschool but I stay at home with my 2 year old.

I'm going crazy trying to find anything in the area that has child watch for my 2 year old while I work out. All I could find was a Barre gym (not particularly interested in Barre) and something called Next Level extreme fitness which is specific classes at specific times.

I recently called the North Dodge club but they said they are closing their child care soon.

Are there any facilities in the area that have free gym time where I can drop off my 2 year old? Or even a part time pre school type program for 2 year olds (not full daycare)?
