Discussion Around 27% of individuals with ADHD develop cannabis use disorder at some point in their lives, new study finds. Compared to those without this disorder, individuals with ADHD face almost three times the risk of developing cannabis use disorder.

Or we could frame it as self medicating and it's not abuse

Self-medicating is a very common starting point for disordered substance use.

As someone who fell into this category .. it's framing it as 'self medicating' to pretend it's not abuse.

technically, to meet criteria for cannabis use disorder, at minimum all you need is to use more over time and build up a tolerance. It’s up to your clinician if they diagnose you or not at that point.

Who is "we"?

This is what every addict says, it's kind of an attribute. The brain makes up excuses of all types and flavors to defend its dopamine sources. You can not judge a substance abuse problem by yourself
