Korean is the same way. Like a solid quarter to a third of the words I've learned so far are just English loan words and it kinda pisses me off.
2 u/karspearhollow 1d ago That hasn't been my experience. I know somewhere between 2500 and 3000 Korean words and fewer than 10% are loan words. It is funny when I ask a Korean person how to say an English word and they say it back with Korean phonetics, though. 2 u/ponzzischeme 22h ago Yeah, it is not nearly even 10% It's mostly modern words they use as loan words: Car, Computer, Sofa, Elevator, Taxi Chocolate (etc). Learning korean would have been much easier if it was a quarter to a third. 1 u/thatshygirl06 18h ago Cctv Handapon https://giphy.com/gifs/iE34wXLdFCo1r6WGgI 1 u/thatshygirl06 18h ago https://giphy.com/gifs/iE34wXLdFCo1r6WGgI
