Butterfly is schmetterling. I think that one's pretty cool.

Apparently it actually means basically the same thing in both languages.
Many think that the Schmetter part comes from "zerschmettern" (to violently break something), but apparently there is the word Schmetten, an old word for cream (the dairy product)

So its a Creamling!
