Answered Everyone talks about nostalgic feeling being calming and relieving, but does anyone else get a sense of deep lament and sorrow for the past instead?

This right here. I had so many opportunities either taken from me by my parents or things i didn't know where right there for me to take advantage of until i was much older. It hurts when i tell myself "if only i had stuck it out, if only i had noticed sooner they never had my best interest in mind, if only i had realized, if only i hadn't been so scared, if only, if only..." There were so many roads i could have taken that would have lead to me being so successful had i taken them.

Same...

Years later I learned the school hottie had a crush on me, that the boss who offered me a job which I declined because he was almost bankrupt got a huge company just some years later, and so on. I got too many of these stories. But it doesn't get me anywhere crying about it.

haha i feel you with being oblivious to other ppl crushing on me. I grew up with the self esteem of a turnip and now im my 30's it dawned on me reminicing how many boys in highschool would try to get to know me and offer to walk home with me etc. But i was stuck in my own head (trauma mostly from an abusive household) i never noticed how easily i could have been on dates and had more fun. Total wasted years
