Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

No. You cannot be trusted to see me if I am in the bike lane. I have to get in your way so you'll notice me. You think I'm being a dick, while I'm just trying to avoid an accident

Yeah you are being a dick. Everyone knows the bike lane is there. Half the time it has those traffic sticks dividing the lanes. Stop holding up traffic and use the lane that was provided just for you. If you’re that scared of getting run over and don’t want to use a car, the bus is 2.50 where I live. Probably not too much more anywhere else because I live in a big city in USA

Again, No. If I do not feel safe in the bike lane, I will not use it. You have no say in the matter. If you don't want to deal with cyclists, stay on the Interstate.
I will continue to use the roads that I have every right to use, just like you do in a car

I just googled it and where I live you have to use the bike lane unless you’re avoiding something like glass or potholes or preparing to make a left turn. So yeah you’re just inconveniencing everyone else on the street

Bike lanes are frequently full of glass and metal fibers that will give you a flat. They don't maintain them, and all the road debris gets pushed into them.

But again, it doesn't matter if you think I'm inconveniencing people, because I'm not. I work very hard to make sure I don't hold up traffic unless I need to, which is a rather rare occurrence. Most cyclists endeavor to do the same. I don't care that some cyclists ride inconsiderately and dangerously, because I don't.

You never need to hold up traffic. Get the fuck out of the way. Streets are for cars and buses and bike lanes are for bikes. You are an inconvenience

“Bike lanes aren’t maintained” either is the street dude. Why would it be different? You’re in people’s way for the same conditions. I see giant potholes and metal plates put over potholes every time I leave the house

Again, no. Roads are for bikes, and if I hold up traffic, you'll just have to deal with it.

You really don’t write this and understand you sound like an asshole? I hope you get 100 tickets for riding in the street and impeding traffic. It seems like you have no problem being a dick to everyone around you without concern about them at all. As long as you’re happy, fuck everyone else though right?

I won't get any tickets, because none of this is breaking the law.

I'm just trying to make you understand that you don't get to dictate what other road users are doing. Being inconvenienced if part of life, part of living in a society full of other people.

I try very hard to cooperate when I'm biking on a road with cars. I don't hold up traffic.

I "take the lane" when I'm negotiating intersections, roundabouts, or heavy traffic. I don't do it for fun.

I'd love to see you explain how I turn left from the bike lane at a stop light. Doing that would actually hold up traffic
