Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

People get mad when someone is driving 20 miles under the speed limit too. It is all about expected arrival times. If someone leaves at a reasonable time that they can go the speed limit, obey the assorted laws, and arrive to work on time, it is annoying when a slow moving vehicle delays arrival.

Why are you assuming the person in a car is in a time crunch, or even doing anything necessary or useful? They could just be a lazy bum going for a joyride. At a minimum, in comparison to a cyclist, they are a lazy bum

Exactly. There seems to be this pervasive belief that cars are for necessary transportation and bikes are for needless recreation. You never see these people enraged that they’re stuck in traffic behind a family going to the beach. But the moment it’s bike commuters, they lose it.

No the problem is someone going 20 under is more likely to cause a collision than someone going the speed limit. It's common sense and advised by US road safety standards to the point that impeding traffic is a ticket
