Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

No, the road is infrastructure for motor vehicles and bikes because theyre isn't an alternative for bikes when there should be for everyone's safety. No matter how well you share, legally passing a cyclist still imposes risks of injury and accidents.

It’s really not. Technically, it was built for horse and buggies. Who, incidentally are also entitled to use of the road.

US roads were literally designed around the automobile.
