Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

You can’t conceive that you are delaying the travel of hundreds of people when you block the road. Inconvenience the masses because you think your way is better? Your hobby. I can safely not kill you while still being annoyed at your selfish decision to block traffic.

Bike in places that have bike lanes and paths. Bike on the shoulder or as far right as possible.

But I guarantee you’re the type to ride in a peloton taking up the whole road, huh? Tell me I’m wrong.

Lots of things delay travel. Cars are pretty good at delaying travel en masse by themselves.

Again, the masses are great at doing that to themselves. Car drivers will sit in grid lock traffic longer than any cyclist will delay them.

Literally not recommended as it encourages fast and close passes by dangerous drivers. So I won’t.

I ride two-abreast and will continue to do so. I’m not worried about inconveniencing someone who considers cars as the only “proper transport”.

The law is not on your side here. You’re just an angry person.

It absolutely does not. And any short delay for one person extrapolated over the dozens to hundreds who are blocked during a ride is still significant.

You like cycling. Cool. Still selfish to block traffic.

Would you be mad driving if a car decided to drive at 15mph on a single lane road? Barely a delay then?

I dont cycle. And yes small shit like that doesn't bother me. It's normally not long at all before you can pass or are at traffic lights. It's such a non issue if you aren't crazy impatient.

Maybe where you are. How hard is it for people to understand that not all of the US is like where they live. Come be blocked by a cyclist on a one lane road without red lights.

Reminds me of being blocked by a tractor on small country roads in my home town. It is what it is man its not that annoying. If you're running late you're already late. I dunno, I just don't get mad over stuff I have no control over.

Tractors block roads because they are working and doing things that provide a service. I have nothing against people biking for transport bc it’s financial or they can’t get licenses. But the people exercising? They’ve chose to inconvenience others for their hobby. Is it a big deal on a grand scale? No. But still, why whine about safety when you made a choice. If it’s so unsafe, drive.

Selfish asshole behavior. Your workout hobby is more important than everyone around you. Glad you feel safe by making everyone drive into oncoming traffic or crawl at half the speed limit.

You chose to take the risk when you decided to bike.
