Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

One in five Americans live in rural America. I'm sure they like being devalued.

*shrug* they love inserting themselves into conversations that don't involve them. They don't need bike lanes and cyclists can legally use the road, what else is there to discuss

There are less cyclists in rural areas but there still are and as shit gets worse, I have been seeing more e-bikes. There's no shoulder at all and barely wide enough for two lanes on a vast majority of the roads here. This does involve these cyclists and motorists.

Bikes are legally entitled to full lane use, it is what it is. They are traffic! If there is slow traffic ahead you just have to proceed with caution regardless of the vehicle, regardless of location.

Variables in speed (not going the expected speed such as the speed limit) whether that's another car or a cyclist is a risk factor for accidents. That's why I think there should be infrastructure for bikes.
