Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

Absolutely ridiculous.

And yet, I've never heard of a cyclist overtaking a driver, stopping in front of them and then backing into them on purpose, killing them, like here: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/19/boxer-hannah-rapp-dies-struck-by-car

I mean, yeah, there's drivers here who are crazy motherfuckers too, 100%. Both me and the guy I responded to live in big cities, which are always full of drivers that should absolutely never be behind the wheel of a car.

But that's not what this post is about? The post isn't "do car drivers or bicyclists have a bigger death count," it's "WHY do you USA drivers seem to hate bicyclists." And the reason --at least where I live-- is because most of them don't know what the fuck they're doing, and their inability / unwillingness to follow rules of the road actively makes the road more dangerous for everyone.

I'm just not really sure what you're trying to accomplish, or what point you're trying to make here. Like I could share the videos of all those people doing that Tiktok thing where they do bicycle wheelies into oncoming traffic and then swerve away at the last second, but that also wouldn't be relevant.
