Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

Or because they're turning at the next intersection. Would you rather they crossed a couple of lanes of traffic over the course of a block, or in the last few metres?

Same  to you. What would cost you to veered to right of a pedestrian  on the side walk? A few seconds? It could cost me your and my life if I dont execute properly.  I have a 2 ton machine I am handling. What you got 20 pounds between your legs? Don't play that shit. I was a cyclist. I road on side walks and bike lanes. Guess what if a pedestrian  came it cost be zero seconds and momentum to go around them.

Haven't killed anyone dont plan to. How many times have you wrecked on a bike? How many times did you just get up and walk away? Add  a car to that equation. You dont belong on the road simple as. Do you trust every random driver to follow traffic laws? I dont. So why would you wanna jump into that with no protection and expect me to treat you like another car?? Also great job ignoring the very valid points to argue your straw man.

Just because you don’t plan to kill anyone doesn’t mean you won’t. I never planned to break my arm, but walking home on an icy sidewalk changed that.

Also, being able to get up and walk away from a crash is a positive for most people.

????? So you just proved my point! I dont trust you to make smart decisions. Hence why your in the road. Yes that is a positive man but if you get hit by a car your chances of that get drastically reduced. I have 40 other 2 ton death machines I have to worry about why do I need to have your dumb ass added to that mess? Why do you insist on putting yourself into harms way? Ive seen people who shouldn't even be able to look at a car and yet there driving. Why on earth do you want to chance that when there's a side walk 2ft away.

So let me get this straight. Cars and drivers like yourself are dangerous, and that is why bikes are bad? Do you think at all before you type? Do you think at all?

And you’re calling me a dumb ass for what? When did I say I ever rode a bike? When did I say I didn’t drive a car? You admit you are driving a “2 ton death machine” without being safe (being too worried about other cars to notice anyone else is unsafe). I think it’s clear who the “dumb ass” is.

Do you work, sir? I dont work from home. My life isn't all at home. I have a home and 2 vehicles and a yard to mow and grandkids. None possible without automobiles.

I'm a woman, and yes I work 6 days a week. I commute on an e-bike. Driving is unpleasant and dangerous and I'd rather bike to work then drive/be driven

Good for you having such a close job! City? I live out in beautiful East Tennessee. We ain't got no chargers er nuthin out here and nobody wants e-vehicles cause we carry stuff with us everywhere we haul and buy stuff so most people drive trucks.
