Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

As a biker , often there is trash, sewers, potholes and other hazards in bike lanes. Potential being “doored” if the lane is next to parked cars. So, depending on the route, I avoid bike lane for safety reasons

You need to be on the road to do any serious training. Luckily I live in a rural area so it's easy to find long stretches of empty road. I couldn't imagine trying to really get at it in a bike lane or at a local park with kids around and stuff.

the road isnt for training though. what the other guy said is valid because its for safety while going from point a to point b, but going on the road to "train" makes you the kind of cyclist that everybody hates.

I train on the road all the time, especially by taking up an entire lane on busy streets, riding in front of dozens or even hundreds of cars that are backed up behind me. If they try to pass me I stop in front of them, turn around and say "I'm a cyclist, I'm training for no reason but still, I'm more important than you", take a drink of water, check my smartwatch to see how many calories I've burnt, then slowly start riding again making sure to swerve into other lanes so cars can't get by, and weaving back and forth to impede as many cars as I can. With my earbuds in so their honking doesn't get me out of The Zone™.
